Stay-at-Home Thread

My son and I are both enjoying playing the dice game ‘Qwixx’ which we Like more than Yahtzee.

I have almost finished doing a jigsaw of the Richmond Bridge (Tasmania). It is the place where I have had the most picnics in my life. Though the puzzle is only 240 pieces it is harder than I thought it would be because, except for the edge pieces all the pieces are the same basic shape, something I do not like when it comes to jigsaws.

I am trying to decide which jigsaw to do next - map of New Zealand (and South Pacific islands), the cat one, or the Bizarre bookstore.

I've been playing more guitar than usual, some days I think "Yes, I'm sounding much better"
Other days, "Fuck this !"
And consider smashing it against the wall
I'd never ever smash a guitar. It'd feel like murder to me.
(And my guitars are 5 sizes too good for my playing skills, too :) )

Couldn't either and I'm definitely not the musical type. My dad has about nine or ten, but I could never quite get the hang of it:(

^as I see it it's 10 fingers vs 6 strings, so the advantage should be with the human ;)

It's fair to say that I play like I have plump Polish sausages taped to my fingers;) (My dad is a natural though he doesn't think so)

I was better with the violin, but that's a long, long time ago.

with so many of us playing at least one instrument we could make our own orchestra :)
Do you really play the Oboe, Nakita Akita? I love its sound =) Is it hard to play?

I probably spent a little too much time watching pandemic song parodies on YouTube this weekend.

"Do Re Mi COVID 19" is my favorite; I sing it every day, :D followed by "My Favorite Things (During Lockdown)" and "How do you solve a problem like Corona?"

Shirley Şerban is brilliant.

You have to work at getting good sound quality. I started when I was ten years old.
I had a good teacher at that time. I'm too lazy to make my own reeds. Reeds are expensive, I'm veeeeeery careful
With the reeds.

LOL you should team up with my sister - she plays the saxophone and has the same problem.
I play all sorts of flutes and recorders but I find the classical wooden flute as played in the 1700s already very hard to play. You need a lot of breath and rather high pressure for that one. I imagine with the Oboe you'd need even more?

I use to play the clarinet but I have picked one up for about 25 years, I would probably have to teach myself to play again.

Staying at home ... I never thought this would happen ... I'm running out of things to watch on YouTube.

Staying home most of the time is giving me more time to organize and purge for our upcoming move (though now that our plans have been thoroughly covided, who knows when it's now going to actually happen??). Downside of my husband now working from home as well: I've known for a while that things haven't been good at work for him, but I now know exactly how shitty his employers really are.

Nothing is going to be the same again.
People in the USA, their great grandchildren will be paying the bill.
People are going to be making more money for not working than working. What's then incentive to go out and go back to work?
Shops where people used to go will be closed down and gone.
I'm just bummed out.

The great carpet pandemic purge continues. My husband pulls it and the padding up and we both crawl about pulling up the tack board, countless staples and nails. It’s tedious, back breaking work but we’ve only got the master bedroom left. The hardwood flooring underneath will need some refinishing but is beautiful. Makes me wonder why they covered it up - 80s decorating was crap and I lived through it the first time. At least our floors were spared wear and tear whilst they were covered up.
