State-run health care

Olberman is out of his mind, especially with that Winston Churchill example. I've experienced all types of healthcare throughtout my life due to my condition and the worst was when I was covered by the state and the best when I was out from under the state. Can someone tell me why that is and why I should be happy to back under the state?

You want government run healthcare? Then do it at the state level the federal government has no business being involved in it at all. The federal government should have almost no business being involved in people's day to day lives.

Mike, if you give people something for nothing they will take it, and the people who will get something free in this case will do so on the backs of others.

How are you doing, by the way?

I've been fairly stable since the tachy storm in March. I did have an attack of atrial fibrillation that caused the heart to start racing and one shock from the ICD about a week before I had the ICD replaced. I was allowed to keep the old one. :)

I forgot to add. Olberman, and I did see my local nightly news do the same, did a little misleading. They identify people who are against government run health care as people against reform and that is not true. There are things we would like to see changed but change does not necessarly mean government run.

I notice neither one of the two good Christians TLS and Ryan here have anything to say about the 12-year-old who's reached his life-time-limit of what the private health insurance wants to pay out already. I guess you want him to beg for getting a prosthesis, hm?

When are you sending money to him?

You are alive.
Considering your condition that's quite something.
State-run health-insurance can't be that bad then.

But if it is so bad, why are you even considering going back to apply for financial help of the state?

The minute either you or your wife start to pay for your own health insurance.

I'm a supporter of the safety net system. You know temporary help.

So I was right and you do want him to beg?

So that's a "never," from you.

Yes of course, I won't send him any money. Now you answer my question. Why do you want this 12-year-old kid to become a beggar?

Yes it is. And it is about dignity. You want children like him to panhandle to afford a prosthsis, I want children like him to have a right to get the medical treatment they need. That's the difference between you and me.

See, this is the problem with Welfare and Public Health Care. People simply refuse to move their arses and do things for themselves. Here you go.

You're right, this is a big problem... people who think that emergency care is a replacement for easy, regular access to cheaper preventative care. Why bring costs down for everyone when we can burn money in the emergency room?

Or perhaps you think they just need more silver? Maybe the problem is just an overabundance of blood throwing the humours out of balance? Or any other medical fallacies you'd like to throw out there?

Only fools believe free health care will be cheaper.

It's too bad Progressives are so resistant to change. Too bad they can't open their minds to see that there are viable alternative methods for health care. Unfortunately their stubbornness is going to ruin health care for a whole country.

It's almost as if you're writing from an alternate reality where people can change jobs as often as the wind changes direction. It's not easy. It's never been easy. And now, more than it has been in a long time, it is near impossible. If you can't see that, well, there's little reason to discuss with you.

Life is hard. Anyone who says differently is selling something - or a President trying to redistribute the wealth. People need to suck it up and take care of themselves and we'll all be better off.

But how can that be, when according to Gertch everyone in the US has access to medical care? :p

Marian

How nice to come back and find my name being bandied about.

You do realize the little thing called pre-existing conditions right?

As I said before, not in Mass. Have your politicians change the laws the same way. So it can be done.

What are these viable alternatives?

Like that 12 year old boy with one arm? or all those sick kids that depend on charity hospitals like Shriners that can't afford to stay open?

No, you are the one wanting him to beg. You saw the need but you walked on by hoping someone else will take care of it. Why won't you help? If you are so concerned why don't you do something to help him?

Not at all. What I'm saying are two very simple things:
- Everybody should have insurance
- When someone has insurance, the insurance should pay for the medical care someone needs

I don't know what's so difficult to understand about that.

What you are saying, is that the insurance company is well within their rights to let this boy suffer without a prosthesis, but he should beg people like me for donating money to him.
