Starz cancels Camelot

I wanted this show to fail, the moment I saw that the kid from Twilight scored the role of Arthur.

Nevertheless I checked out the pilot, and found that the blond kid was the least of this shows problems. It just plain sucked.

I personally love the story of King Arthur, and I hope that one day a network like HBO or Showtime will do a proper big budget miniseries based on the Arthurian legend, with a more traditional approach.

Starz doesn't have much of an audience anyway... they've got to be a distant third behind HBO and showtime.

But they're trying to build an audience by being "HBO, but lots sleazier." It's a good strategy, they just need to pick their shows with more care.

I really wish I were in charge of Starz so I could do two shows I think are no-brainers for them: sword & sorcery with everyone running around half naked; and sexy/scary cyberpunk. If they had two shows like that, I might be tempted to fork out $20/month. :rommie:

You might think that they should do a vampire show. But naw, I think that market has been saturated.

Perhaps Starz shouldn't try for the dense multilayered political drama like Game of Thrones (mixed with sex and violence) and just go more for the even more overt sex and violence, with only the barest mention of politics like Spartacus.
Definitely. They shouldn't try to cater to anyone's intelligence. They should go for well-produced, good looking sleazefests.
It looks like they might actually be trying to go for a little bit deeper stuff now. We've got Torchwood coming up, and I just stumbled across stuff for their new show Boss, which is about a Chicago Mayor played by Kelsey Grammer. Here's their description
Ruthless Mayor Tom Kane (Kelsey Grammer) holds the power in Chicago, but he also hides a crushing secret. He keeps his advisors Kitty O’Neill (Kathleen Roberston) and Ezra Stone (Martin Donovan) in the dark, State Treasurer Ben Zajac (Jeff Hephner) is
too ambitious to notice, and Kane’s wife Meredith (Connie Nielsen) knows nothing. But Kane’s estranged daughter Emma (Hannah Ware) could be his redemption.
This is going to be the toughest term yet for the Boss.
And the first teaser.
EDIT: Just watched the first three episodes, and I really enjoyed them.
