STARTREKHISTORY.COM BACK ONLINE

This is, in my opinion (which I respect), the #1 website for Star Trek history. "The Cage Page" in itself makes visiting this website a wonderful experience.

The stuff that's was uncovered is amazing, really makes me happy to know there are still secrets of Star Trek so many of us don't know inside and out. Particularly how Spock was cueing a bridge crewmember to change the screen image in The Cage, but the angle filmed makes it look like he's doing it himself simply by pointing.

Such a shame Roddenberry milked every inch of Trek for a profit by snapping up so man trims. It would be great to have Deleted Scenes Bonus features on the DVDs.

I know there are audio tapes floating around (I've heard a few, specifically four or five of Frank Gorshin's attempts at the line, "For fifty thousand of your terrestrial years..."). Probably a lot fewer than film clips, but there just might be a few out there that can be matched with footage.

Hey, stranger things have happened, especially with Star Trek.

Still a pretty generic rocket ship design.
Sure, no argument there. It could have come out of any number of late-50s or early-60s-vintage books I read when I was little about What Things Are Going to Be Like When We Get to Space in a Few Years, or from any of dozens of Saturday-afternoon serials in the Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon vein in years previous.

How dare you besmirch the ion ship! Whyyyyy, if I only had a pain-giving device...:shifty:

I like it better than the flying space boob they put in the remastered version...although a flying space boob makes sense in a weird kind of way given the planet it came from.

I could've redesigned it keeping the original elements but adding some things to make it less "rocketship"...

....Hmmm...Maybe. I. Will!

Stay tuned. MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

I tend to agree with you about Roddenberry but honestly I think if he didnt snap up all those trims and sell them to fans, more than likely I doubt if we'd be seeing them today. I'm sure the studio would have tossed them ages ago.

The missing color footage from "The Cage" was in a bin that was designated for the incinerator, so yeah, there's probably more than a few bits that were burned around forty years ago.
