Started Out Wrong and They Fixed It

If by getting rid of it you mean fully embracing it.

I like how with Picard and Prodigy they basically leaned into the Temporal Cold War. We see some of the players as being the Watchers - the people who Gary Seven, Tallinn, and Wesley Crusher work for. By extension, The Guardian of Forever was implicitly retconned as being part of that conflict, along with Braxton from the 29th Century, and the Romulan in SNW Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. In fact, it was that episode with the Romulan explaining time keeps being altered sealed the deal for me that the Temporal Cold War is not gone nor forgotten.
No, I meant what I said. The Temporal Cold War is the one thing from the franchise I would absolutely get rid of.

(And at the time, the Temporal Cold War was given that definitive end. Coto obviously had no way of knowing it was going to be touched on again in this era, especially given how disliked it was by so much of the fanbase. I was very grateful he ended it at the time.)

The Temporal Cold War was a mystery box no one had figured out what was inside during ENT.

Imagine Brannon Braga to Manny Coto:
So, some good news and some bad news. The good news is the crazy Space Nazi cliffhanger gambit worked and we have season 4. More exactly, you have season 4! Now the bad news, you have to resolve that Space Nazi cliffhanger. Something something Temporal Cold War. With Space Nazis. And we see the 1940's too so you can't cheat and say some Germans were just abducted by aliens. We already kinda used that one at least twice... "The 37's" and "North Star". And who the fuck knows, TOS probably hit that well too... probably not DS9 though.

Picard: I've never been crazy about him. Ever since TNG, he's always struck me as being a bloviating windbag. I'm glad Star Trek: Picard took him down a few notches and made him into something resembling a human being.

Speaking of Picard, I'm glad they gave Seven of Nine a makeover (No more catsuit and heels! At long last, the woman looks like she could kill someone.)
