Starships question

The video clip is from an episode of "The West Wing"; the characters in the clip are fictional employees of the fictional Bartlett administration. She portrays the White House spokeman, and does not want to be embarrassed by him posting on a BBS, for obvious reasons. I thought the clip was amusing.

As for the steam question, TREK fans would have no verifiable idea, since I doubt the subject was ever mentioned by characters in any of the series. Maybe starships do have it, maybe they use an entirely different technology to accomplish the same thing. I would not be surprised in the EPS conduits may fill that role, if I understand your question correctly.

I expect he was being facetious. "Steam pipe trunk distribution venue" is also a reference to the West Wing.

I was just making a joke. I wanted to see if anyone would catch it.

So, you would post a WEST WING joke in STAR TREK forum to see if anyone gets it?

hmmm....

Not to mention a West Wing-inspired Star Trek novel (Articles of Confederation by KRAD) and perennial suggestions in the Future of Trek forum that the next series be a West Wing-style show focusing on the Federation President.

I remember a West Wing episode when Josh didn't want a woman who worked there to wear a Star Trek pin because he said you can't bring your hobbies to work.

And then Josh goes on to show that he must know quite a bit about Star Trek as well, talking about Cardassians and Romulans... :)

It's the "EPS conduit & GNDN tube trunk distribution venue."

And we may have seen one in that Voyager episode where Janeway took the people who worked on the REALLY lower decks on a mission in the Flyer...

:D

One of very few episodes where you get a clear idea of how huge these ships really are. You could walk for hours around voyager without seeing anyone when it has 150-odd people in the same space that on a Nimitz class carrier accomodates over 5000 and 80 combat jets!

Oh, I caught it instantly. However, just promise me you want go around calling Bonz Nurse Ratched or suggesting that she's a dictatorial leader wearing a mumu and chain-smoking Parliaments. Because otherwise I'd have to tell you to open the wardroom window and climb on out before she gives you a pre-frontal lobatomy and I have to smother you with a pillow.

;)

What I just caught, rereading this thread, is that I screwed up the title of KRAD's Articles of the Federation. My bad.

Looking at it now on Amazon.com, I notice that even the cover art is an homage to The West Wing.
