Starship design in Star Trek

Yeah that's them. Matches the same design on the Voyager MSD

Neat, sort of like a bigger badder Voyager with those cute little legs out the bottom

The Voyager, Prometheus and Protostar all seem to share similar design philosophy.
Its a shame we hadn't seen more of the Prometheus class though in the 25th century.

But when I saw the Prometheus for the first time, I wouldn't have minded if that was a 24th century Constellation refit given it had 4 large visible nacelles.

That wouldn't have been a bad idea but for the diehard fans and purists

Well, there is a certain merit in modernizing the Constellation design and the Prometheus comes close to being its successor... and I arguably preferred a more streamlined look of the Prometheus and Protostar vs 25th century ships which had a more angular feel to them.

So more spoon shaped than the Sagan class of the USS Stargazer?

All I'm saying is that leading up to the 25th century, ships in the 24th century seemed to have more 'sensible' and seamless transition from the main to the secondary hull.
The Stargazer of the 25th century and a few other other ships of the era seem to have abandoned sleeker designs in favour of hard line edges (going back to 23rd century, but with a somehow 'updated look' that makes them look unappealing) - to be fair, not all ships in the fleet looked like this, but the most featured one on screen we saw have.

The Intrepid as seen in PIC S3 looked pretty good, secondary and primary hull wise, but its nacelles were ridiculous (Same applies to the Titan-A).
I just don't like those 25th century nacelles... they look plain bad.

The stargazer's primary hull/saucer was ok looking, but its aft section was a nonsensical mess of angularity which also made the ship look unnecessarily 'fat' at the back (for lack of better word).

The Prometheus makes a better Stargazer than 25th century Stargazer, but that's just me.

Have you seen some of the new Lamborghini's, they basically go back to the 80's Countache and update the lines.

THICC rear-ends are in, StarShips are no exception.
Let's fill out that empty volume of space in the Ovaloid Warp Bubble.
That's unused volume that can be used for more StarDrive Structure w/o having to increase the size of the Warp Bubble, ergo consuming more fuel to go FTL.

I really loved the section 31 ships they showed us in Discovery. I like how they had that whole folding design going on and the overall angular look of them.
