Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

You don't need a Dark Age to explain it. Starfleet was just feeling nostalgic, or decided on a retro twist for that ship.

It resembles an old design, but it's built using modern 25th century materials and technology (minus the stuff they borrowed from the Luna Titan).

The bridge is identical to the brand new USS Stargazer from Season 2. So it's not using old tech.

Seriously, with how advanced the Federation is, they could rebuild the NX-01 using modern technology but keep it looking retro.
It's not the first time.

Not a fan of the Ent-F, but at least it looks like it has design lineage with the Ent-E, and to a lesser extent the Ent-D. Unlike the Titanprise, which is literally a design which is in-universe about 150 years out-of-date. (And IMO the Titanprise only makes sense in a timeline where the Federation experiences a Space Dark Ages where its technology stagnates or regresses.)
What's in a design anyway? Unless you subscribe to the idea each one has to be bigger than the last. And yeah, they were kinda doing the retro thing and putting (for the most part) Bill's Shangri-La onscreen.

I mean, they still had original Excelsior and Miranda classes in the 23rd century. 23rd century "design" with late 24th century systems, never really mattered to me one way or the other. If a design works, why make a new one? (in universe of course)

Something that occurred to me while playing Star Trek: Armada II...
The Picard series has provided us with enough Starfleet content that Activision could bring out a Star Trek: Armada III if they were still around and had the license.
You got a selection of different ship classes, at least some with special abilities/weapons (like the Echelon class). Different space stations. Fleet formations, first seen in Armada II appeared in canon in PIC season 2. It brings the Borg and their queen back as major opponents, just like Armada II.

Imagine a three-campaign story set in 2401 after the events of PIC 2, when Captain Picard commands the Federation flagship Enterprise-D, and before the Titan-A returns to spacedock for renaming, serving under acting captain Seven. Could deal with fallout of Founder shenanigans for the Dominion. Do something Klingon. Romulan fights for dominance, etc. Even bring back the USS Premonition!

Ah, if only.

I wish we would get a Armada 3. I have played Armada 2 for years with my friends

Activision is still around.

Either way they were just a publisher, Armada 1 and 2 (and Star Trek Legacy) were created by Mad Doc Software (now known as Rockstar New England)

There is a Star Trek mod called 'Armada 3' for the game Sins of a Solar Empire that is pretty good.

Fleet formations, first seen in Armada II appeared in canon in PIC season 2.
Eh, we've seen fleet formations in various shows before Armada came out.

It's not the first time.

well specifically I meant it would look identical on the outside.

Hopefully it’ll get added to gameprint shortly.
If that happens I'll have to print at least two of them. For a third one, is the prototype the USS Constitution NCC-1700-B, USS Constitution III NCC-1700, or something?

Elite Force 3 please...
Imagine, Star Trek: Legacy: Elite Force 3, set aboard the USS Enterprise-G. Captain Seven assembles a new Hazard Team. Commander Musiker and Ensign Crusher kick-@ss action!

It's missing the red stripes on the saucer.
These paired of stripes on either side of the registry?
Left to right: STO, Kelvin timeline, PIC.
