Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

More than likely the prop is made from the common mold that the Enterprise-D used with added lettering.

It should be the TMP era

I do love STO for kitbashing!

Petition for a 25th Century version of the Soyuz class based on the Sagan but with a gigantic bridge superdome and massove aerials sticking out of it
And only two nacelle of course.

It's not often we get a detailed look at a niche ship type. There's some concept art out there somewhere for the Excelsior Class bridge and it's two stories tall and the viewscreen takes up half the room. Can't find it for the life of me but that's what I imagine the Soyuz class to be like - having a massive room or deck dedicated to astrometrics and communications.

Found it! Idk where I got two stories from.

You may be confusing the two stories thing from the concept art for the Enterprise D bridge..some of it was wild with these casual sitting l areas, a round conference table, plants, etc. It looked more like a rec deck than the bridge

I like how "out there" these concepts are. That whole "hidden controls and comfortable chairs and wraparound viewscreen" thing feels really ahead of its time for the 1980s. TNG was pretty much the first mainstream media to show the concept of multitouch computer interfaces. It would have been wildly impractical as an actual bridge or working set of course, but still, I like that these exist.

Upon doing a little more digging around the internet, it appears a Web Comic decided to use that bridge as the basis for the original Probert Ambassador class concept. Gotta say, I don't hate it.

The one detail that kills that bridge for me is the couches right in front of the stations. I can see having loungey seating in there somewhere, but people with jobs to do don't need looky-loos literally sitting a foot or two in front of them. Lotsa room for people to kick back off to the sides or on that balcony. Give the people who are actually doing something their space.

It's just so obnoxious. Really, all this open space and this guy has to sit right in front of me?

Hey I know you're working on that gravimetric scan because the latest flying space squid decided to develop a cloaking device..

But this couch is like...really comfortable

"Red Alert! Shields up! Captain, should we return fire?"
"Aw but I just got comfy number one! How about a drink first to ease our nerves?"
"Shields are down, they're boarding us!"
"Have you ever tried this vintage Commander? It's silky and has a sort of citrusy note..."
