I was just riffing on the Borgias but wanted something simpler.

Too many contradictions, and it would also tie the hands of the writers of all the pre-2410 shows.
I agree that it would never be fully canonized, but there are a lot of cool storylines from STO that they could easily pick from, and adapt into, the canon. The Solonae (particularly as it applies to the Dyson Spheres), Iconians, Hur'q, Tzenkethi, etc. The Lukari/Kentari episodes were pretty cool too and an interesting new species that could probably stand to be propped up in RealTrek™. Just please leave out Pentarro, who was a painfully obvious Trump clone. I mean, really fucking painful.
