Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

You can tell from the shape of the roll bar. It’s curved, not angled. Plus you can see the glow from the secondary deflector on the saucer.

I’m on my phone, so it’s pretty easy just to zoom right in on the fly without having to use an editing program.

Slightly higher quality version of the fleet picture

It's funny to me that it is so hard to see green on Starfleet ships. Of all the things that would bug me that surprised me the most.

The new Stargazer looks decent. The rest are of questionable quality.

Consider them to be the DS9 Frankenstein fleet of PIC. Ships in the far background which don't need a whole lot of detail or explanation as to their design attributes.

That first shot of the Starfleet armada did remind me of a Dominion War battle shot in DS9.

I consider them to be a poor representation of Starfleet.

I hear what you're saying, but it's a better representation of Starfleet than what we got in DS9. Starfleet basically sent their Excelsior and Miranda class clunkers against their far superior Dominion opponent.

Eh. It looks bad no matter what. So better than terrible is still terrible.

Still beats the ugly-ass fleet from "Battle of the Binary Stars(DSC)." Sure, those were all original designs created for that series but damn, many of them were not very attractive.

To me, it wasn't so much that they were 'unattracttive.' It was that they looked far more advanced than the time period they were supposedly coming from. Most of those ship designs would have worked better as post-TUC ships.

That, too. That was THE main issue.

I did like the Shenzhou, Shran and the Shepard-class, though.

Better than what we saw here.

Give me those ships over most of this ridiculous fleet. Or the Inquiry class.

Green seems to have been relegated to Klingon and Romulan palettes, sadly. Purely for visual aesthetics. The only two Federation examples that immediately come to my mind are the original TMP Refit paint job, that painted areas of the secondary hull a grayish-green (until ILM later changed it to blue), along with the Arctic Explorer from ENT, which was VERY green.

The Luna was one of those classes that took me a while to warm to after first seeing it on the covers of Trek novels about Riker but after seeing it in LD my like is solidified.
