Perhaps Starfleet mass-produced Nova-class ships just to rub it in the Romulans' faces.That was a clearly a 26th century upgraded version of the ship. A Super Nova.

Samuel didn't seem to recognize, like I did, that the Steamrunner model used in the trailer IS the eaglemoss model. Ben Robinson also basically confirmed that it was. The nova probably is as well.
