Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I thought that was just CBS’s way of saying that DSC takes place in the same universe as TOS whether it looks the same or not.
That's the only thing They are going to give us TOS hardcore fans.
Just string us along with the hope that someday They will give us a slight glimpse of what we remember.

I'll probably be dead by then though.
:cardie:

I think using the Cage footage was just a troll job by the producers. Just like inserting the Discoprise was here.

I dunno why it bothers me this much but it does.

Cause, the Original Enterprise is ICONIC.
Changing it the way They did (just because They can), seems deep down, almost sacrilegious to many of the Original Star Trek fans.
(including myself)

When They can bring out the PICARD series and pretty much keep the TNG look intact, it becomes even more obvious that They are probably not interested in maintaining or even promoting the TOS imagery in any new shows.

Yet, They sell that same imagery on a daily basis, including adding new items of it quite often.

It is completely anachronistic to common sense.

They don't profit by trolling their audience.
Yet, that is what They seem to have done to the TOS viewing fan base.
We're a 'dying' breed it seems and not worth any effort.
:sigh:

I don't believe that for a second. I know I'm not first run TOS fan but TOS is my first Trek love and I don't see the issue.

I respect how people feel regarding it, largely because it was the only Trek for so many years, but I do not share the sentiment.

This is strange. Why just those two? Since it's a holo-display of Enterprises, why not show the NX-01, the TMP refit, E-B, E-C and E-E along with them? Or maybe a glimpse of whatever ship currently holds the name, if the E-E has since been retired?

Possibly those are the only two models they have? They needed a CGI Ent-D for the opening scene, so that's in the budget, and as we've seen, they filled out the background with DSC assets. Ergo, the Ent-D and the DSC Enterprise get put in.

Sounds plausible. And since two is all it takes to establish that it is a rotating display, all the other Enterprises are implicitly there anyway. Including, potentially, the myriad different refit standards of NCC-1701-nil...

Here's the truth, apart from the Ent-D and new Romluan ones, I didn't notice any ships. Complaining about reused assets on screen, in the background for a split second, is silly.
Not even all those reused Discovery shuttles?

The Romulan ship looked good - clearly related to the Valdore. Strange that it's only the sixth Romulan ship we've ever seen in Trek history. Well, seventh if you count the Narada.
The Romulans are sneaky little buggers at the best of times and dont like to give too much away.

They dont like to show their hand if they can help it, they are essentially the opposite of the Klingons who love a good show of force.
