Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

I don't like that...

...but I like this one a lot:

30 years is a bit of a difference from 150.
In this context it might not be much different. Cars have only been widespread for about a century. Starfleet has been using shuttlecraft for probably close to 300 years by the time of Picard, so it should be a more mature technology.

The Romulan one is fine. You can tell it’s one from it’s look. It just doesn’t have the presence the other ships had.

That’s totally not what I meant. A Ford Taurus doesn’t have the same chassis as a Model T.

Car design is a bit more about customer demand oriented. They want something that looks different, so they get something that looks different.

Aircraft carriers, while built quite differently now than 50 or 60 years ago, look more or less the same. Different internal tech, same basic design. Cruisers and subs too (subs are much bigger now, but same idea).

I wasn’t aware that Ford still uses the Model T framework for their cars.
It's not a one to one ratio, given that cars are developed around customer ideas, comfort and specific needs. A shuttlecraft frame work and hull may last a whole lot longer.

This is strange. Why just those two? Since it's a holo-display of Enterprises, why not show the NX-01, the TMP refit, E-B, E-C and E-E along with them? Or maybe a glimpse of whatever ship currently holds the name, if the E-E has since been retired?

This seems like an unnecessarily gratuitous call-out, firmly embedding the subliminal "Disco is CANON, bitches!" message into our collective fanboi psyches. Again, unnecessarily.

Show me the NX-01.

The real NX-01. Remember, in Picard's time it's a museum ship that people can visit and tour. :) Failing that a hologram of the NX-01 will be just as good.

Beacuse maybe, just maybe - those particular ships NEVER really existed...

If B-52 will keep flying into 2040s in its primary role as a bomber, which will make it close to 100 years in the role, it’s not hard to imagine a space worthy shuttle being reused for planetary use even 200 years later. If hull is sturdy enough, slap a SIF on it and call it a Taxi.
