Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Personally i think titan is a misdirect and it's a new enterprise

Umm, the ship is even labeled TITAN below the shuttle bay.

but the only thing they about the Titan are the two lines mentioning it in Nemesis.

And perhaps the ship's appearance in "Lower Decks"?

Honestly, I don't get it. They put so much thought into the new Stargazer, a perfect fit for the 25th century, and now they replace it with this anachronistic looking design. Oh yeah, and they get new uniforms as well.

Some people are saying that the Luna class titan was 20 years old.. Too old..
But the tos enterprise was 20 years old by Kirk time and still it's prime. Almost 30 by refit time.
It was just about ready for its 25 year major refit.

We saw plenty of Luna class ships in season 2, so there's nothing wrong with the design as a whole.

Obviously the elephant in the room is what happened to Riker's Titan...

Ah, much better. ;)

Because Starfleet apparently loves ‘nostalgia.’

I'm aware of that, but visual effects can be changed. Note that there is no ship name or registry on the underside of the saucer.

Yeah, but that would be incredibly stupid of them to intentionally create a trailer that’s so deliberately misleading and out of context that they’re trying so hard to hide the real identity of the ship by putting a fake name on the back. If they’re trying to hide that the ship is actually something else, why bother even showing it?

I'm a bit baffled by the choice to call it Titan.

I know here on the forum a lot of people know about the novelverse and the TItan design by Sean. However, most of the Star Trek fans I know in real life, never heard of it. They follow the shows and movies and love them, but the only thing they about the Titan are the two lines mentioning it in Nemesis.

For the biggest majority of Star Trek fans, there isn't a real nostalgia thing with the Titan, I think.
You know, it's not uncommon for properties with large multimedia arms to try and have their cake and eat it with tie-ins, doing stuff that seems to say one thing in the main properties, but with just enough ambiguity to not fully contradict the "secret history" in the tie-ins. I'd expect LDS to be part of the "mainline" of Star Trek and that they'd assume most fans would watch it or be aware of its existence, but I can't help but feel that this is going to be set up that the fan-on-the-street who watches only live-action shows will be left with the distinct impression that this is the same ship Riker left to take command of at the end of NEM, even though the MA articles and the explainer clickbait pieces will tell them, actually, as vaguely implied by one unclear line of dialog, this is actually the second USS Titan that Riker commanded, and the first one was seen in LDS, the novels, and that museum thing.

Except, anyone who cares in this day and age will already know the Titan from the many tie-ins (and LDS), so there's no one who's going to watch this and think, "Oh, exciting, we finally see Riker's new ship!" even if that's how the show is structured.

well in the trailer, we have riker saying, Hello Beautiful, and then there's a super hard cut, so I doubt he's talking about the Titan A

Also, why it the Titan A leaving at an angle? instead of going straight out of the door, its doing a bit of a diagonal.

It's probably gonna be the Enterprise-E, put in Spacedock as a reserve ship or part of the Museum Fleet.

my guess is the “beautiful” he’s referring to is the saucer section of the E-D.
