Spoilers Starship Design in Star Trek: Picard

Nice ceiling!

Do love that badge. Pity they have it in black not gold on the uniform though.

It just doesn't need to exist.
Rude.

But I do think they should have used the Andromeda instead of the Ross, as it's the same aesthetic as the Sutherland, it would have matched better.

From what I heard, Cryptic gave them a wide selection of ships, and the Picard art team (probably Dave Blass) chose the ones they liked. So someone over there liked the Ross more than any of the other possible choices.

Picard's line about it being a "refit" is clearly a joke. He's walked onto a brand new ship named in honour of his old rustbucket, and says something to the effect of "she scrubbed up nicely".

All the other dialogue and evidence in the episode makes this perfectly clear. I can't believe there has been so much discussion of this.

Terry Matalas' comment that it's the same ship "in sprit" is pretty vague and kind of irrelevant in-universe.

That Andromeda ship looks like a replacement for Galaxy which makes perfect sense. Ross looks like it's too much of Galaxy's era which is extra mad cause I thought it was named after an Admiral who was still active at the time

The turbolift ceilings aboard the Enterprise-B had a dome with the Federation seal on it so we were close to that as long ago as 1994. :)

Hopefully someday we can have a look at that replica old-Stargazer dedication plaque in Rios' ready room.
Who knows, it probably has a launch date or stardate that contradicts the 2326 of the Starfleet Academy plaques.
