This one played right before Quinto, Pine and Saldana came out to present.

I do wonder how (or if) the Enterprise is going to survive the damage & dive toward Earth at the beginning of this sequence, but the editing here for this spectacular clip is creative & deceptive. The nacelles and pylons on the ship shown crashing into the water are apart from each other far too far to be the Enterprise. IMHO.

Well, yeah - there's a lot that goes on, on Enterprise, with attempts to right the ship. This clip cuts from a moment when Enterprise is falling into the upper atmosphere to a different moment when the other ship crashes.

The Enterprise looks in pretty bad shape, in any case. One of those still photos (#7) seems to show that there is a hole straight through the thicker central part of the primary hull(!)...

So, are we dealing with a situation where multiple ships plummet to Earth? Sounds a tad contrived for more than one vessel to experience such similar fates/near-fates in the same film. Is "April's Gun" a "Fall-Out-Of-Orbit-Beam" of some kind?

Perhaps the reason the "stance" of the nacelles is wider than what we're used to seeing on Enterprise, is that the support struts are simply "sagging" after the secondary hull smashes into Alcatraz?

So, both are plummeting at the same time, having mortally damaged one another, and Enterprise is able to pull out of its dive, while the other isn't so lucky?

I can deal with that. (Though I was kinda hoping for that "Fall-Out-Of-Orbit-Beam". Or better still, a "Fall-Out-Of-Orbit-Torpedo", thus explaining this...)

Okay, two ships. That makes sense then. The loser does the dive into buildings and the sea.

I suppose it could also be from two very separate scenes. One scene wit the Enterprise in a space battle while in orbit around a planet, and another separate scene with some other ship plummeting to Earth.

Something still doesn't add up. How can the ship which is skidding saucer down along the bay also be the same one which clips the building tops?

Seems to me that ship, as it approaches the shore would dig it's leading saucer edge into the shore line and flip over on its back. Its forward momentum could then cause the mass to continue rolling along at ground level plowing into buildings in its path and we see that at T: 12/13. (The view from the park)

Then in the very next scene, T: 13/14 the hugh saucer clips the building tops. A clear enough view of that saucer leading edge is given to see it could not be the same saucer which just smacked Alcatraz, planed across the bay then rolled on shore in a jumbled heap.

I do not believe they are the same ship. The hugh saucer ship is either our heroes Enterprise or a different ship than the two we see falling out of orbit. Perhaps Scott was was unable to prevent her decent but was able to keep her from nosediving. Pretty heroic compared the other ships fate.

In the first still of the Enteprise in the OP, the dish is inoperative (gold). We've also seen other stills of a heavily damaged Enterpise with a non-working dish that is very damaged (a piece is missing).

The ship that crashes into Alcatraz has a working (blue) dish that looks to be undamaged (fully round -- a large chunk of the Enterprise's was missing).

Keeper makes a good point. It's hard to believe that ship wouldn't go cartwheeling when its saucer hit the water at the angle it did. The only thing I can think of is the distance from Alcatraz to SF is not very far, and it hit land before it had a chance to cartwheel (because for a split second, it does look like it could flip over).

Khannison spends most of the movie hurling one ship after another from orbit at Starfleet Command - but like a poor marksman, he keeps missing the target!

The only way for the ship do the way you said it should do. Is it to come down in more of a steep angle, like 90 degree.

I hope they show that Harrison intended to crash exactly where he did because randomly falling from orbit and just happening to land in SF Bay would be incredibly stupid - though with these writers I am unsure :/

(Lets 'hide' the Enterprise from a pre-warp civilisation underwater 200 metres offshore! Lets hope that every inhabitant of this pre-warp village even the woman and children chase us because we have stole this sacred scroll thus getting them out of the kill zone! )

Oh I enjoy the reboot and its flaws its just difficult to get over some things that's all :)

Surely Harrison regains control somewhat so he can crash land into SF Bay.

Yes it must have humpback whales on-board or else it makes no sense to me :) You have solved the mystery. However, why not release the whales into the open ocean instead of in a bay? TBH I put the BoP landing in SF Bay down to Spocks calculations which ofc he gets 100% spot on. He wanted to come down right infront of that window at the precise moment Sarek is looking out and furthermore Spock wrote these calculations on the back of a napkin! Spock fucking rules.
