Starship Bozeman Officer?

When the Bozeman bridge was shown near the end of the episode "Cause & Effect", what was rank of the officer standing at Captain Bateson's left? I'm thinking the officer was a Captain.

It's hard to say. The insignia is not clear onscreen and does look like the long captain's pin, but I'm not sure. I'm tempted to say either commander or lieutenant commander would be the next two possibilities. Bateson is captain, so I don't see why there would be two onboard. If it is indeed a captain's pin, it could be an error that no one fixed because they assumed it wouldn't be clear on TV.

The lady behind Bateson appears to be a Lieutenant or a Lieutenant J.G. I don't think that it's any higher because the Rank pin isn't enclosed and doesn't appear to be a single pin.

I don't know... it's definitely Lt. or Lt. JG... but I really can't tell which definitively.

To me it looks like a Captain's pin but I can't be sure.
Was the officer Vulcan or Human?

Yeah, that would make sense. The lighting isn't the best either, as it's shining directly on the silver pin. That could create the appearance of the pin being longer than it really is. But looking at it again, it could easily be a Lt. JG insignia with the bottom bar being really close to the little clip.

It was originally going to be Kirstie Alley reprising her role of Saavik (thus completing the stunt casting of having Kesley Grammer as Morgan Bateson) but her asking price for the cameo was too high.

Personally, I'd like to think that Bateson's brother was on that ship as the Starfleet's first counselor...

it is hard to see but it looks like a lt. to me..the bozeman was a small ship..no need for two captains

I heartily recommend "Rogue Saucer". The Bozeman is described as a police cruiser on the edge of the frontier.
