In the past, Atlantis and SG-1 tried the short intro theme, and there was fan backlash because they wanted the full intro themes back. They gave in and brought the full intros back. Well, now Atlantis has gone the short intro route, so, do you like it or do you want a longer intro theme?

It's not really worthy of being called an intro. It's just there.

My biggest gripe with the short-form intros is that I have no idea who the main characters are supposed to be, especially in larger casts like SGU's.

I should also note, SG-U is apparently doing the whole recap intro thing that nuBSG did as well. Feel free to comment about views on that, I suppose it could be considered part of the Intro Theme.

I quite miss the overly bombastic theme tunes of SG1 and Atlantis, and i loathe the fact that tv series are losing their themes because the networks want more room for adverts.

The SGU "intro" is alright, and i like the short narration by Rush, but id prefer a longer theme.

I was gonna post "what intro?".

That 4 or 5 seconds of the name with a little snippit of music? Hate the heck out of it.

I'm with Positronic.

There's a THEME? Oh, that musical burp? That's IT?

I miss the days of TV shows with theme tunes (or songs) that we knew and recognized. Years after the shows are gone, I still fondly remember the Brady Bunch song, Archie and Edith at the piano, the gentle strains of the now lyricless "Suicide is Painless" in MASH, the Jeffersons' "Movin' on up", "One Day at a Time," etc.

Now... it's all becoming forgettable noise.I can't believe I think "Two and a Half Men" has one of the longer themes now.

I've liked much of the incidental music in the series (excluding the melodramatic piano crap), but the main theme isn't much at all. Nothing worth commenting about, anyway.

Even with the into like BSG it does not hold a candle to BSG's theme (old or new!). It was quick and hard and got you pumped up. SGU could do with something like it, instead we get sleepy dreamy music, if you can call it that.

TOTALLY (like most other stuff on show) ripped off from the likes of LOST etc... but I like it. I don't need the same 60 second intro clip every episode, it gets boring, this gives more time for the actual episode and it fits in with the series very well.

I don't think people can really say it rips off other shows. The title change is more of a necessity for tv writers due to the ever-shrinking 'show' time. Two decades ago, there was about 48minutes of program versus 12 minutes of commercial.
It is closer to 41/42 minutes now.

I'd much rather have more time for show than waste another 30 seconds to a minute on a theme.

There's really not much to like or dislike. The closing theme, however, is ok.
There's a closing theme? Of course there is, it's just that we in the US never hear it, as the crush the credits to the side for promos maneuver robs us from listening to it. :scream:
Please tell me someone's posted it online. :shifty:

Just go to Hulu or the Syfy website, click on an episode, then scroll to the end.

Actually, I got to say, so far I have been very unimpressed with SGU's music. It's practically sonic wallpaper like most of modern Star Trek.

SG-1 and Atlantis may not have been musical masterpieces, but their music was damn good, memorable and more importantly noticeable. SGU's music is bland, generic, and forgettable.

I agree with the others who posted before me in saying "what opening intro?" There really is none.

But then, I was never crazy about the opening intros of any TV show to begin with, and I really like this recent trend of just getting rid of them completely.

If only we'd have more shows without music altogether. I've always hated music in movies and TV. Without closed captions, I can't understand the people speaking--which is supposed to be the point of the story in the first place.
