Starfleet Week

I'm just posting this as a lark.

Fleet Week just started in New York and as usual the kickoff was the Parade of Ships up the Hudson River. The participants included vessels from the US and Canadian Navies, the US Coast Guard and NYC harbor patrol. I didn't get a chance to see it live but I found video of it on Youtube (the filmer was even nice enough to label everything).

So just now I was thinking about it and, since I'm on the board, my mind started wandering toward the idea of a Starfleet Week, where one planet or another would take a week out of every year to celebrate its explorers and peacekeepers. And of course, such a week would start off with a parade of ships (in low orbit, past a viewer's platform, whatever). So the question I pose to you is: What ships would you include if you were organizing the parade?

I'm not sure of every ship I'd put in, but the core of my line-up would be a Sovereign-class, a Nova class, a Constitution and a Constitution-refit. They don't even have to be named "Enterprise." I just like those classes.

So, what Starfleet ships would go in your parade?

Never seen a fleet week in person. :(

Anyway, wouldn't something like that only include active ships? So you wouldn't have a Sovereign and Constitution together, unless the Connie was a training ship. But I'd personally want to see a Galaxy and a Nebula, anything else would be gravy.

Active doesn't automatically mean "new." The original frigate USS Constitution was on the Navy's active duty roster well into the nuclear era, and Reagan reactivated WW2 era battleships just to build up a six-hundred ship navy. Don't think too hard about it. This is totally a "What you want" exercise.

While you're thinking about ships, also think about this: what special events would be waiting for the members of Starfleet as they came ashore on the host planet? Like last night, Jimmy Fallon's audience was made up entirely of members of various fleet services.

If the host planet was Earth, I'd arrange sight-seeing tours for Starfleeters from other worlds, and nominate Earth-born 'fleeters to act as guides. Or how about special ceremonial dinners at famous restaurants around the world?

I'd want to see Galaxy, Sovereign, Constitution, Nebula, Ambassador, Intrepid, Akira, and Excelsior class ships. A couple of vintage ships like an NX class or a Daedelus class would also be great to see, since I love history.

For the civilians, tours aboard these ships would be fun. Crew reunions featuring anybody who ever served on certain ships during their entire time in service. Pareses Squares tournament between different ships.
A viewing of the historical recordings of the V-Ger Incident, the Genesis Incident, the Whale Probe Crisis, the hostage situation of Nimbus 3, and the Praxis disaster would also be great for them to show.
