I had no idea Kirk was given a ring. I noticed Pike, McCoy and Scotty wearing rings throughout the movie, but I just assumed the fleet had relaxed rules about that sort of thing (it was about the time B.A. banned flight attendants wearing crosses which caused quite a fuss in England). Does anyone know if they class rings too? I just assumed random man-jewellery.

I didn't see Kirk or Spock wearing rings at the end of the movie...just as you stated above: Scotty, Pike, and Bones (which I had assumed at first was a homage to the ring that DeForest always wore on that particular finger). I'm guessing that it isn't regulation to wear your officer ring if you choose not too.

This one is basically a much better version of the Academy class rings that were sold at Star Trek: The Experience for several years.

Yeah, I wear the Academy one almost every day. And, for the record, I'm not single, do have a girlfriend, and she's pretty fantastic and way cute.
