Nonsense. They're the difference between good fantasy and poor fantasy. This is science fiction and fantasy though, so common sense and logic isn't applicable here.

Awesome is not a mod in this particular forum. You may debate at your leisure.Debating a mod is never a good idea, so I'll just say it's great this BBS allows for an open discussion of continuity/canon. There are major Reddits that ban such discussion.
What, that Star Trek is a work of fiction and that it shouldn’t be taken as a literal historical document?Debating a mod is never a good idea, so I'll just say it's great this BBS allows for an open discussion of continuity/canon. There are major Reddits that ban such discussion.
Yep. She's just one of us plebes in this forum.Awesome is not a mod in this particular forum. You may debate at your leisure.
8 out of 10 Thermians find this post offensive. What, that Star Trek is a work of fiction and that it shouldn’t be taken as a literal historical document?
I wouldn't say the other series are really struggling with it right now.And maybe “keeping up on 50+ years of continuity” is simply unrealistic
It's interesting Star Wars didn't take this approach, like redesigning the Death Star, Darth Vader, TIE Fighters and X-Wings etc. in Rogue One and other movies and tv series they've appeared in since 2015. Why couldn't the Death Star be changed into a cube for example? The people still exist, events still happen, things just look different.
People are free to think this though if it makes them happy.Acting like DSC or SNW isn’t part of the same timeline as TOS and the other shows is like claiming a particular production of Hamlet doesn’t count because the swords or castle look different.

LD? Picard? Prodigy? Eh, they've had a few problems/I wouldn't say the other series are really struggling with it right now.
Really? Hardly the impression being given by quite a few people around here. And I’d say a detached examination of the entire body of work in Trek would show otherwise (I’m NOT volunteering for that task—too much work for anyone over 30I wouldn't say the other series are really struggling with it right now.
They actually made minor changes to the costumes, it’s really noticeable in the Stormtrooper armor which takes details were painted on and making them functional. Essentially taking what used to be vacuformed costumes and turning them into more realistic armor. But you didn’t notice so I haven’t created an elaborate explanation for why they look different. There are differences between each movie and each filming location. There are several different lightsabers in individual movies because they needed the prop to do different things. But unless you’re a prop or costuming geek, you probably aren’t going to notice. It's interesting Star Wars didn't take this approach, like redesigning the Death Star, Darth Vader, TIE Fighters and X-Wings etc. in Rogue One and other movies and tv series they've appeared in since 2015. Well I wasn't going to mention Discovery's Ferengi, because it's been pretty well behaved otherwise lately.Really? Hardly the impression being given by quite a few people around here.
Ditko Spider-Man vs Buscema Spider-Man. Still Spider-Man.Well I wasn't going to mention Discovery's Ferengi, because it's been pretty well behaved otherwise lately.

Star Trek fans get really really upset over fairly minor things.
I remember when the actual world was ending, the apocalypse had come and the end was afoot ...when aztec panelling was added to the TOS Remastered Defiant and the Defiant in Mirror Darkly
Some people really dont like their cheese being moved
Star Wars isn't meant as an approximation of our future. It is meant as a space opera future with much different rules than our world. It's interesting Star Wars didn't take this approach, like redesigning the Death Star, Darth Vader, TIE Fighters and X-Wings etc. in Rogue One and other movies and tv series they've appeared in since 2015. Indeed. It's ridiculous.Star Trek fans get really really upset over fairly minor things.

How death isn't permanent and characters get brought back to life is a bit like how comics operate.Star Trek isn't a comic book.
