Whether true or not, I liked the idea that Rey was supposed to have been surrounded by the Force ghost of dead Jedis, including Anakin! If they could give Wedge and Wicket cameos, why not go for the gold and throw in the rest. As a grand finale, everyone should have made a curtain call.

By the way, will they release more figures for this movie? I read somewhere they were waiting until after the movie to release the main toy figure line. I guess same time as when the novelization comes out?

We still need an Emperor Palpatine figure from the new film(actually we still need a Vintage Collection Emperor figure from ROTJ but that's another story altogether and for another thread) as well as a Finn figure in his new outfit and Old Lando so anything's possible. My guess is we will get more toys from the new film and this year but the selection will be a lot more limited compared to the past four Disney films and all the ones that came before.

I recall reading that somewhere around 80% of the merchandising was being held back because of spoilers.

ETA: Okay, more like 65-70%.
We have clear conversations about what can come out when, and what needs to stay under wraps. We work around things with that in mind. At least from a Hasbro stand point, [the product on display is] maybe 30-35% of our full line.

We probably got one or something like it. But Disney and Lucasfilm had it edited out.

I really preferred just having the voice-overs. I was afraid that JJ's tendency towards excess would lead to exactly what the Reddit post proposes, a big Force-ghost fist-fight.

I think you are correct. TROS was OTT enough without that scene.

Real life often informs our expectations, so it matters a little bit.

Also, I can readily accept many different filming conventions. But, guess what? This is a Star Trek forum were nitpicking and pulling apart is the menu of the day. So, people are going to go off of their real life experience.

Regardless, what amuses me more, is the fact that all the things that happened in the ST happened in prior films or in EU books with nary a complaint. Put it on film and everyone looses their minds...:wtf:

Yeah, I finally finished the last season of "Rebels," which has some interesting, off-the-wall stuff about teleporting to different points in space and time through "The Force." So even in the current Disney canon, there was already precedent for transfer of matter over distances via "The Force" like we see in the sequel trilogy.

This reeks of damage control. Movies aren't just allowed to be bad anymore, no now there has to be some mythical REAL movie out there.

"You have to believe me! I totally filmed EVERYTHING fans EVER wanted! It would have been the best movie ever and you all would have loved me! But those horrible executives cut all the good stuff I filmed and left only the bad stuff I filmed!"

I'm not sure what's more troublesome: the whole "Remake The Last Jedi" campaign or this "Release the JJ Cut" thing. I mean, it is possible to just not like something and for it not to be a conspiracy against fans and their precious fandom.

I guess with the "Release the JJ Cut" we would get to see what his complete vision was for the movie. If we're going to tear him down, we might as well see what he intended us to see.
