The only drama was the issue with the writer who quit a few months back. And yes, dramatic for sure, and certainly unfortunate, but sometimes issues like that are unavoidable. What other drama? That Michael Chabon left Picard amicably to work on an TV adaptation he wrote the source material of? Yeah, that's so dramatic.

Wasn't it apparently so from these guys that Benioff and Weiss were fired like back in May? And that they were simply stringing them along, but here Iger is just a month before the announcement comes out still mentioning that Benioff & Weiss are still working on Star Wars. I'm guessing the rationale in the YouTube brigade is that it's just some sort of a cover-up.

Other than maybe 2001, the original film is my favorite film of all time. It is a bit rough around the edges, but that is part of its appeal. It has a great story, a world that at least seems real, with memorable character that play off each other. The chemistry is off the charts. It is a story that is timeless, that is universal. Yet it is equal parts fun and strange. Exciting, mythic with relateable characters. But while everything happening on the screen is some of the best cinematic storytelling I've seen, it's only half the reason I like Star Wars. It's all the innovations behind the scenes, all placed against some heavy obstacles (like the fact that some thing they didn't even KNOW they could do, while the studio was wanting to shut the whole project down). It's a project that works so well yet was a hair away from falling flat on it's face and being too cheesy to have any weight to it
Would have to see the cut force ghost fight at the end to believe it. There were outlines in the fall that included Luke and Leia ghosts as part of the final Ben/Rey vs Palps fight. I thought using the voices of other Jedi instead in the final release was effective. Still, wouldn't confirmation of this (force ghost battle at the end being filmed or not) be possible through the actors? Hayden, Ewan and Sam should be able to disclose if they'd filmed such a scene or not this far into the release of IX.

Actually, it is the job of the "friggin' head of Disney" to take failures on the chin. He is the public face of Disney and all of its subsidiaries. He takes it because he's a good leader. If Marvel had what was perceived as a failure, he would be doing exactly the same thing. But it doesn't matter, there is so much animosity against Kennedy, she could be out there taking the heat, and people would still say it's not good enough, that she probably should be fired. Well, if she was fired, it still wouldn't be good enough. People would probably want her deported. If she was deported, it still wouldn't be good enough. Need I go on with how some people's disdain for one individual has gone way too far?
Then is it such a stretch to imagine some of us are still enjoying that sense of wonder? Acknowledging the weaknesses but overlooking them because the greater whole is so entrancing?
Here's the thing, I like Rey.
Not because she is female, or ticks an equality box, but because she's a relateable character who I can root for when watching with my kids. I like a lot of the new characters in fact. I don't need backstage sources to base my opinions around, or Youtube videos made by people who have no more important or educated opinion than my own.
The films are fun and I look forward to seeing them and ultimately that's all anyone should really be asking of them.
Of course they are flawed, but one thing SW has suffered from endlessly down the years is being lionised as a classic. Any and every later iteration has been effectively set up to fail by that and if ANH were made today it would fall foul to exactly the same concerns.
It was by people who invested in the film and thought such changes would bring in a bigger box office haul. And if you're wondering how then could they be wrong...Hollywood has been after the 'perfect formula' (IE - minimal production cost for maximum box office return) since it started, and hasn't hit on a 100% repeatable formula yet - but when people put in their money, they have ideas and want a say. It's up the the producers/director, etc. to cull those ideas/keep investors happy while they make their film.

Regardless, his speaking out doesn't somehow indicate problems. He's doing his job. Doesn't automatically mean Kennedy is on the outs, or whatever. Again, conspiracy theory. Lack of evidence and reckless speculation doesn't equal facts.
