Star Wars The Old Republic

Before the 12x xp event ends I need to do the following:-
1) Raise my Scoundrel to the end of chapter 2 (on Nar Shaada at the moment) to unlock my final class buff
2) Take my Operative to Balmorra so that I can just do the class quest (since it makes more sense RP wise I should not be seen doing work for the empire while undercover with the rebels).
3) Clear Tatooine so I only have to do the class quest since I hate the planet and get off as soon as possible

However, despite knowing I need to do these I suddenly feel the need to start a new Sentinel.

I just need to decide which order to do these.

GSF is a bit difficult to get into, but when you do its very fun.
Its skill ceiling is pretty high and the matchmaking is pretty dumb, so when I am in a 6 man premade with guildies who all have at least 500 matches under their belt, and we get a 11 newbies + 1 experienced guy on the other side its a total one sided match.
However the good matches with roughly equal sides are actually very good and exciting.

I beat the Emperor! For the final stage of the game they removed my companion characters and stuck with the damn droid who I hadn't used since I got a second character. He basically died halfway through every fight. That was extremely annoying. This is the final level and I need all the help I can get and I was totally gimped!

Fortunately the final fight with the Emperor was extremely easy. I didn't die once!

Yeah, I think that highlights a fault with the companion system or a lack of foresight in the design of the game. If a game gives you different companions to choose from that are better suited for different build types, then don't take that choice away when they need it the most and replace it with something they likely haven't had a chance to upgrade. I only ever used that droid when it was the only companion in the early parts of the game and once Kira was available I didn't upgrade him as often. So I'd likely feel that part a little unfair.

There's a puzzle to solve right before you fight the emperor. It rewards you a full set of gear for T7.

Of course, they should tell you this, but the objectives are kind of hard to miss.

Yeah, there was a medical droid right before the Emperor and next to him was an "Ancient Chest" that I opened for a bunch of T7 armor. But that didn't change the fact that I had fight through that entire dungeon to get to that point! Poor game design :p

The Emperor is the only boss in the Jedi Knight story I remember having trouble with. It was a mix of a very weak T7 and it took me a while to figure out what his killer attack was partly due to not focusing on him.

I'd had no such trouble with the other final bosses in the classes I've finished so far, though given I'm 3 to 4 lvls over the boss it does make it far less deadly.

I think the Emperor was probably the easiest world boss in the game for me in spite of getting gimped with T7. I didn't die once. Which was unusual for me!

I would check out all the changes since I last logged in, but I just can't muster any motivation to face all the grind between the good bits.

All my friends who play are either/or in different time zones and waaaay ahead of me, so playing with them is difficult and boring for them.

But alone I just can't bother. :(

come to think of it, once I beat the primary story I immediately lost interest in the game. I've barely played it since then.

I'm the same as well. I'd much rather go and start a new character and do their story than do the End Game grind to get better gear. I don't really have any interest in Ops or ranked PVP so there is little draw for me to get the highest tier gear. However, the grind is great for credits to support levelling of other characters and crafting so I still do a bit of it.

So, I went back to the ground for the first time in a week or so. Apparently my x12 xp boost is over and now it says I'm at REDUCED xp. Also, I had to "reactivate" my character. I didn't just pay for something doing that did I? I bought a two month subscription just over two months ago, but then I bought the Revan Expansion about a month ago.

In any case, once I beat the primary story I immediately lost all interest in the game. It's a little played out now. Still, I want to see the Revan story.

Technically you didn't do the primary story because there isn't one...there's eight. Granted, the bulk of the content is the same (i.e. the planet specific missions) but each class has it's own unique storyline...of varying quality.

The Knight one you played is as one might expect the fairly archetypal Star Wars "hero's journey" type story and is one of the better ones, if a little lacking in depth.

The Consular story is sadly IMO dull as dishwater. Aside from being generally uninspired, the pacing and companion progression is decidedly wonky. For some reason you become a Master shockingly early and yet don't get a padawan--who though interesting is utterly squandered--until the final act. It's bizarre.

The Smuggler story starts strong, but kind of peters out around the middle before quietly sidling to a poor excuse of a finale.

The Trooper and Warrior stories are serviceable but unmemorable with very little in the way of depth or surprises.

Never got around to finishing the Bounty Hunter story myself, but I gather it's fair to middling.

The Inquisitor story line is I think one of the best , or at least more interesting as in a strange way it feels more personal. While the others are about heroes journeys, grand quests and vital missions, the Inquisitor's story concerns how a person who started with nothing, managed to become one of the most powerful (and potentially evil, depending on how you play) being in the galaxy and for the most part it's out of sheer necessity.

Saving the best till last; the Imperial Agent. Now *this* is by a very wide margin the best class story. Full of twists and turns, espionage, murder, double and triple crosses. Everything you'd expect from a spy thriller...with lasers! ;)

But surely every story is basically about the immortal Sith Emperor and his attempt to destroy all life and become a god, and the Jedi's attempts to stop him?

Only one I've played through to completion is the Agent, but no, the immortal Sith Emperor is nowhere to be seen.

...and Illuminati.

And it deals with PTSD and borderline schizophrenia.

Plus you get to go undercover as a service droid!

All around, pretty flipping amazing.

Also, dat ship.

The sad thing is, of the eight, it's the one that most needs a continuation because the character is basically left in perpetual limbo.

I agree that INQs is probably the second best. It's just kinda ... weird.

The others are all just kinda meh and about the same. Scoundrel gets bonus points because of the dialog. It's literally laugh out loud funny, but the story is pretty weak.

And no, outside Jedi Knight, the Emperor hardly gets a mention.

Non the less, they're all worth a try. And since you can now solo Forged Alliances, it's definitely worth a go.

Nope. He barely even gets a mention in the other stories. It's a big war and the Emperor mostly works in the shadows, so it's not like what he was up to is general knowledge. There are plenty of other big things going on in the galaxy.

Wow, that's really surprising. Is that why I never saw Darth Malgus in my story? He appeared for the first time halfway through the Ilum post-game mission. Also, I never saw the Republic secret agent who's the son of Satale Shan who was the star of that novel I read.

Theron Shan is one of the main characters of Forged Alliances and the new expansion. His face is on the homepage.

I'm gonna see if the game can draw me in enough to buy the Revan expac now that I've activated the 7 (though maybe really 6) days of unlimited gameplay for former subscribers promo. The update is hella slow.
