Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

I just finished it last night. The game is fantastic, but like many others here, it's just way too short. Wait for a price drop to the $35-40 range.

I finished it last night too. Much better than the first.

I might play it again on ultimate hard (or whatever) since it's not too big of an investment in time.

I bought this on that Target sale, I was just gonna sell it new, but if it's so short maybe I'll open it and play it. It literally just takes a few hours to play?

I only played the first 30 minutes of the first one and wasn't crazy about it.

Word on the street is that this game is ass. I figured this would be the case back when it was announced. My Gamer Sense rarely fails me.

Holy crap, guys. I opened the game and started playing it; IT IS SO MUCH FUN! I'm playing on Easy so that's probably part of it, but you are so damn powerful in this game it is incredible! And the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. And the set pieces are absolutely amazing. That whole battle with the giant monster on Cato Neimoidia was eye-popping! Wow! I am having so much fun playing this game!

I'll have to get the first one now!

So I stopped at the start of the Dagobah stage. How far into the game am I? I hear it's super short so I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow to sell it... EDIT: Well according to a walkthrough I'm halfway through the game! That *IS* ridiculously short. So it takes like four hours to play in total. Fine by me, I'm just sneaking this in quick before I finish Fable 3. And now thanks to Target I also have Fallout Vegas and Halo Reach

OK, finished the game today. The last two stages are ****ing frustrating. I almost threw the game away several times. And I'm playing on easy! Some of the most frustrating platforming I've ever had to do. And the final multi-stage boss fight was also terribly made. It takes 15 minutes to wear down his health.... and if you accidentally fall off a platform at the end of the fight... he goes back to 80% health and you have to repeat the past 10 minutes!!! I did this about 5-10 times

Well, the chances of resolution for the story doesn't sound great as TFU3 has apparently been cancelled.

i rented this game yesterday, started it and finished it today in about 4 hours. Horrible story, great gameplay and graphics, and also horribly short. I felt like i played half a game. just when it gets good, its over. I'll wait to get this when it drops waaaaay down in price, around 12 or 15 bucks.

Horribly optimized for PC.
Graphics-wise it looked pretty nice, but seriously, this level of graphics should be playable on mid-range gpu's in laptops from late 2008.

Other than the optimization issues, it's short and a bit less engaging than the first part (at least to me).

Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleased II

---------SPOILERS--------

And there is a huge space battle, fought by the Alliance! Yes... one year BEFORE the battle of Yavin! It is much bigger involving fleet to fleet action... Here goes the canon!

-------END OF SPOILERS-------

In the big marquee of "A NEW HOPE" doesn't point blank say that the REBEL ALLIANCE had won their first space battle against the EVIL GALACTIC EMPIRE with zero description of where that battle was? This is weeks/months before the Battle of Yavin, mind you, but there it is.

Yavin was only a big deal because the base of the Alliance base was nearly annihilated and they managed to destroy the Death Star.

Little bit of trivia here: know that the Rebels did directly after that award ceremony?

They abandoned Yavin as the Imperial Fleet was on its way.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleased II

I got the original in a bargain bin for like $7 at Target last year and still felt overcharged. Now with the terrible reviews coming in on TFU2 (and the fact that TFU3 has been cancelled) it's a pretty easy decision to take a pass on this one.

Plus I'm deep into a seemingly neverending game of Fallout 3 so I don't have time to play anything else anyway ...

The scroll also says that the Death Star plans were stolen during the battle. Does TFU2 qualify for that as well?

They aren't the same. The battle from the ANH scroll was the Battle of Toprawa, which happens immediately before the start of the film.

Interestingly, one of the original ideas for the first game was to have the game end with the Battle of Toprawa with you serving to protect Leia to allow her to escape with the plans where you fight Vadar and his secret secret apprentice. Lucas didn't like the idea for whatever reason so he vetoed it.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Unleased II

They aren't the same. The battle from the ANH scroll was the Battle of Toprawa, which happens immediately before the start of the film as the Tantive IV arrived at Tatooine from Toprawa and that is where it picked up its pursuing Star Destroyer.
In the EU, that is - or at least was - the meaning of the scroll. I'm curious as to whether TFU2 meets both conditions of the scroll - meaning that Toprawa's probably going in the junk pile next to everything The Clone Wars has thrown out - or if it just meets one, meaning that TFU2 rendered itself Infinities (to my relief).

^ My suspicious is that TFU3 would have revealed that the Battle of Kamino was part of some trap planned by Vader to destroy the Rebels. Couple that with a Alliance loss and the Battle of Kamino is a tarnished "victory".

However, given how often someone in the EU seems to get their hands on Death Star plans I wouldn't be surprised if Starkiller did wind up with them in a third game.

Finally played it yesterday. The game is the opposite of challenging. It is a snooze fest. Almost every game is pretty these days, that's the easy part. I just find it hard to give a damn anymore. Compared to the truly epic action games like God of War and Shadow of the Colossus, this is a poor game. Compared to a fwe other SW games made in the past 10-15 years, this is a poor game. And that's saying something since 75% of Wars games are uninspired crap.

FORCE LIGHTNING-FORCE LIGHTNING-THROW LIGHT SABER-FORCE LIGHTNING-DEFLECT SOME BOLTS-FORCE LIGHTNING. For four hours. The enemies act like they are mentally handicapped. Starkiller is one of Star Wars' biggest Larry Sues I've ever seen, it's almost at an embarrassing level of fan-wank. Who comes up with this shit?

This should have been $10 DLC for the original. In fact, I'd wager that the project started as DLC but Lucasarts thought "Hey, I'm sure there are five or six million retards out there who will pay full price for a four hour game that a monkey could play", and so it was done.

Get some standards people and stop paying $50-60 for shit that doesn't deserve it. Rent it, split a copy between five friends, do anything but pay full price for this mediocre piece of shit.

After having this game sit around for nearly a month after release date, I decided to pop it in last night since the Clone Wars is on hiatus this week. What can I say? Disappointed.

I should say first that my initial experience with TFU was on the PSP. In my opinion, the PSP version was superior to the PS3 version. The story line engrossed me from the get go in part one. There was a grim satisfaction to traveling the galaxy and helping Vader finish his work in hunting down the remaining Jedi. Along with the introduction of some Jedi I was unfamiliar with, the PSP version also featured Darth Desolous, Darth Phobos and Asajj Ventress in the Jedi Temple trials. The PSP versions also had Order 66 mode in which you fight 19 waves of imperials. There was also the Force Battles mode where you fought various other Jedi & Sith, culminating in a father and son team of Vader and Luke and finally Palpatine. There was also Historic Battles mode in which you relived battles like Geonosis and Mustafar.

The fighting was also more tactical. There were specific combos that you could initiate based on pressing a certain sequence of buttons. I haven't seen much of that so far. The enemies were also more challenging. The Sith Accolytes in part two are a bad joke compared to the Imperial Guard in part one. Everyone goes down easy in this game.

I haven't yet finished it, but based on what I've read here, I'm about half way through which is sad for only 3 hours play time. I won't be losing any sleep over part three being canceled.

Bring on Star Wars: The Old Republic!

So can anyone tell me the last they made even a "good" Star Wars game? The last one I bought was I think either Kotor or Jedi Academy (can't remember which came out when) and I've still yet to get very far with the former-though having recently played through about half of Dragon Age may have better prepared me for another go-and was rather let down by the latter. I mean who wants to play as Kyle Katarn's apprentice? It'd be like a MGS game where you don't play as Snake and that's just crazy talk...

It's a shame because for a while there, back in the old X-Wing/Tie Fighter & Dark Forces days Star Wars games were mostly good if not very games in their own right. This last one certainly looks pretty but I'm too old a gamer to be dazzled by graphics when it's pretty obvious the gameplay is as shallow as they come. I almost got the first one on steam a few months back when it was going for next to nothing, but 5 mins spent reading reviews (even charitable ones) persuaded me otherwise.
