Star Wars: The Clone Wars 2x13 Voyage of Temptation

Moral: "Fear not for the future, weep not for the past."

Anakin discovers a secret past between Duchess Satine and Obi-Wan while the Jedi are protecting the duchess.

This episode airs February 05, 2010 at 9pm est on Cartoon Network.

Ooh, "Temptation?" Is this going to be a romantic episode? Maybe a romantic comedy, seeing how they're looking at each other in that image.

It is one of those couples who can;t stand each other but the tension turns them on...

P.S. I made that pic myself don't read to much into it....

I was very obsessed with the Star Wars prequels when they were coming out and scoured the internet for everything. I can't remember where I'd read it, but...
Lucas claimed part of the reason Obi Wan didn't get upset or even mention the fact that Anakin had taken a lover/wife is because Obi Wan himself had had a Jedi-forbidden relationship at some point during the Clone Wars.

Of course, other reasons might be because Obi-Wan had sensed something about their companionship or near the end of Ep. III everything is fallen apart quickly... still it's interesting Obi Wan didn't chastise Anakin about this.

It would be even more interesting if Anakin catches them together in some sort of romantic context... especially since Anakin has a secret wife, he would have some empathy for Obi-Wan.

Maybe this was on the episode III commentary, I can't remember but I'm thinking this Clone Wars Mandalorian story arc might be addressing this very interesting untold story. Super pumped for tonight's show. Obi-Wan and Anakin are actually going to be in the same story for a change! :D

EDIT: This looks like tonight is part II of a trilogy, with "Duchess of Mandalore" airing on Feb. 15th, then a break until March 5th. (wiki) :(

This was a good and fun episode. I loved the "trouble with tribbles" reference. Also liked how they mentioned a Mandalorian Civil War, and Anakin's heroics at the end overlayed with the Imperial march theme. I did wonder though why it was so dark down in the cargo hold at the beginning. Didn't the ship have any lights down there? :wtf:

What was the model of that assassin droid. I tried to look it up but all I get is humanoid assassin droids...?

Pretty good episode. The spider droids were creepy, particularly when the one used the dead corpse like a marionette in the dark! I keep waiting for someone to point how obviously similar Obi's girlfriend is to Padme.

I don't know why those things just aren't rigged to explode when they get near thier target....

P.S. There sure isn't a shortage of Traitors fighting for the Republic....

Good point. Also makes you wonder why the Death Watch guards didn't just shoot Obi-Wan or break his neck last week. Instead they left him to die in an unguarded, unneccesarily complicated mining machine, WITH his comm-link!

Also, the CIS just pays better. The Republic's pay sucks, and they don't offer benefits.

Yeah, I think this goes a way towards explaining Obi-Wan's turning a blind eye to Padme and Anakin.

Good episode. I've been looking forward to this one since the S2 trailer. Loved the "go get your girlfriend" line by Anakin. The end was somewhat predictable- with neither Obi-Wan or Satine killing Marek (who couldn't figure out that Anakin would be the one to do it?). You can tell that Obi-Wan and Satine are still fond of each other and we finally do get some more background on Obi-Wan's character and find out that he was in love with Satine. His apparent lack of concern about (or blind eye towards) Anakin's relationship with Padme up until the end of Episode III suddenly makes a lot more sense now.

*Couple points of interest. Marek was also the last name of Darth Vader's secret apprentice (Galen Marek a.k.a. "Starkiller") in "The Force Unleashed". Also, Satine's ship was named Coronet, which is also the name of the capital city of Corellia (according to the EU).

The little spider droids reminded me of the robots in the movie Lost in Space. The tribble reference was fun. Good episode. Senator Merrick, wonder if that was a nod to First Citizen Merrick, in Star Trek Bread and Circuses.

There was a tribble ref? :S

As for episode itself, it was rather brilliant. Even though I knew Anakin would be the one to end that crazy senators life, the way they handled it with a touch of the imperial march playing was fantastic.

If the show keeps up this pace of self improvement, it may well become one of the best things on TV come the 4th season :P

Very much enjoyed this episode. The Obi-Wan/Satine interaction was fun and Anakin needling him about it was a blast. The scene between them in the beginning of the episode where Anakin mentions he senses anxiety from him is a reversal of their first scene together in AOTC.

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon on Mandalore for a year protecting Satine...that would make a pretty good story I think.

Nice to see Artoo in on the action.

I was totally expecting the traitor to get his hand cut off by Anakin. The impaling was a surprise but that's pretty par for the course on this show and hey, it's Anakin. His reaction proved he was the most rational of the three.
