Star Wars: The Clone Wars 2x13 Voyage of Temptation

I'll tell you what... I think George is the only one against it (an OT era or beyond animated series). I think his rationale behind it was that "all the stories have been told" or something to that effect.

Case in point: the Clone Wars series on TV now is said to be partly an effect of the fact that Episode III had waaaaay too much going on at the same time, and GL not only declared that he had more stories to tell during that time period, he actually admitted he'd set the pace of MENACE and CLONES too slow to accommodate the darkness of SITH.

MENACE and CLONES would have made a fine episode I, while SITH could have been spread out over two films. Oh well, it's all speculation and fanwank now I guess.

We might have to wait until he joins ol' Gene in the stars and whoever inherits the Star Wars franchise then may be more willing to give it (OT era animated series) a go.

He seems really against having more Vader around... not sure why. Maybe he's afraid to pay James Earl Jones. I wonder.... Vader has got to make even the smallest appearance in the upcoming live action Boba Fett series.

Speaking of which, butlerd I think they'll be heaps of Jedi in the Fett series... after all, the broad strokes from what I can tell and what I've read is a more detailed account of

the lingering Jedi purge... all the Jedi that when into hiding after Order 66. Jabba the Hutt is rumored to factor heavily into the series as well.

Given Obi-Wan's penchant for "disarming" opponents maybe another way could have been found.

I agree but I think that the writers wanted to go for the "shock value" of Anakin stabbing the guy through the chest- hey, it gives Anakin some more "Vader Street Cred". Anakin's actions would've been even more potent had Anakin not felt the apparent need to blubber out what sounded like an apology/explanation to Obi-Wan for what he did IMHO.

Honestly, I didn't see it as an apology more of a "what, why are you looking at me like that?". Anakin didn't see a problem with what he did, he just didn't "get" why Obi-Wan was shocked/surprised by it.

My problem with the seen is that they telegraphed it a mile away when the guy asked who was going t be the cold blooded killer.

I know we're getting the live series sometime in the near future but, given its setting between ROTS and ANH it will likely feature a whole set of characters most of whom we probably won't know let alone care about and I believe that it's already been reported that characters like Darth Vader/Emperor Palpatine won't figure much into it (if at all) and there may or may not be any new Jedi characters involved either- in which case I have to ask, can they call just ANYTHING "Star Wars" (just as long as it happens to be set in the same "universe"), nowadays?

Deep Space Nine didn't feature the Enterprise or the Klingons or just about any of the Star Trek characters we know, and it didn't even have the starship-exploration format that fits that name, but they still called it Star Trek, although there was some brief discussion about not doing so. Enterprise originally ran without the Star Trek title, but added it back during the second season. It's about branding, about name recognition. Star Trek is the name of that universe, that franchise, so you use that name for anything set there. Same with Star Wars. That's the name of that franchise, so that's the name you use for anything set in it.

That's how I saw it to with Anakin's reaction. I'll admit though I must have been the one viewer who didn't see it coming, I had forgotten about Anakin at that point.

Anakin just gets the job done. That's how he views the world: Problems to be "fixed" He doesn't waste time trying to talk when the tip of the lightsaber fixes the problem.

He's a control freak that's been told he's the "chosen one", blessed with these incredible skills and powers, and told to go out and help people and bring justice, then on a short leash and choked back from doing what he knows will get the job done cause of politics and religious doctrine that says he's wrong for doing what they trained him to do.

Though usage of the Force never seems very precise or smooth so you do have a point. Did his dead body slump over after being stabbed though, or did they catch him, I can't remember.

^Uhh, since Mr. Adventure put "disarm" in quotes, he was implicitly making that very pun. Remember, it was Obi-Wan who "disarmed" Anakin/Vader, i.e. cut off his hand, on Mustafar in Episode III. That was the reference I believe Mr. A was making.

And Anakin didn't sever his arm, he stabbed the guy in the back.

I didn't know the live action series would be about Fett but I guess you are right in that there were, of course, some Jedi whom managed to survive Order 66- just not many quite as important as Obi-Wan and Yoda.

I see your point. I was just referring to the live action series possibly omitting some of the best things about the franchise. I'll try to keep an open mind about the series. I'm a sucker for just about anything Star Wars, so odds are I'll probably end up enjoying it. I guess I'd just rather see some more OT stories.
