I certainly want a Lando film...
I think, much like the Boba Fett movie, that it would be pushing the bounds of general audience interest. They need to figure a way to bring the costs of these side movies way down.

Maybe but from what I've seen, audiences have really enjoyed Donald Glover's performance as Lando and he has a fairly large fan base of his own. If done right, I could see such a film having the kind of impact Black Panther did this year by showing a positive black lead in a space adventure (as oppose to playing second fiddle to others like Lando has or as a co-lead like Finn).I think, much like the Boba Fett movie, that it would be pushing the bounds of general audience interest. They need to figure a way to bring the costs of these side movies way down.
So I just worry (well, not literally worry, but you know) that neither might happen after the lukewarm box office. Maybe if it ends up having pretty good legs...
but the first thing I thought on seeing him was this has to be a set-up for an Kenobi movie.
I do think you're right about Maul's appearance being a set up for a Kenobi stand alone, which I think would make the most financial sense at this point.
That standard needs to change. I mean, it can hardly be expected that if we are getting more SW films than ever before that they keep performing at the same rate. But folks are saying that the movie is gonna be flop by Star Wars standards.
False premise. False conclusion. Or, inaccurate rather.
I really like Jon Kasdan's response. They had auditions, like a normal production, and picked the actor they wanted.
