I had literally zero problems with Ehrenreich.
Same here. His overall presentation was very much a Solo still finding his way. So, I had little difficulty with variation in the voice, or the way he carried himself. It all fit so well with where Solo was at in his life.

So according to Legends and Canon lore, the Millennium Falcon has 3 droid brains, one of them being from an R3 series Astromech Droid. According to the Solo lore, L3-37's brain came from an R3 Astromech, and now it's part of the Falcon's system, making her that third brain.

That's pretty neat.

I voted B+.

Solo is a pretty good movie. Fun but forgettable. Only real criticism is the cinematography and lighting. Had some Star Wars spirit. Disney doesn't really know what they're doing with Star Wars, tho. Like The Muppets- They buy these properties and make product, without passion. Just passion for profit.

So I’m watching the special features for Solo, and the Falcon set was built on top of the set made for EP7.

I assumed they built a completely new set so the old one would be available for EP8

Finally getting around to a close rewatch of this film:

Solo: A Star Wars Story. I like this film a lot, but it puts me to sleep nearly every time at two points in the story - after the coaxium train heist, and at the end after the confrontation with Dryden. There's something odd about the pacing overall - but that's a good thing. For all the reasons this film is different from a typical Star Wars movie is generally why I like it.

I do believe Paul Bettany was miscast as Dryden Vos though... I like Paul as Vision and the Star Wars character of Dryden Vos is fine. But there's something about Paul's interpretation or acting... his scenes, all of them, fall flat for me as Dryden. He's not an interesting or compelling villain for me. He is supposed to be brilliant, domineering and cruel but I found myself wishing one of his Lasat guards was 'Dryden' instead. Vos' scabby looking makeup is distracting, too.

On the good points: I found Lando, Kira and Han made some good chemistry together. The Falcon origin story was entertaining, and I was in love with all the gambling scenes of Sabbac. The meeting between Chewie and Han was satisfying although not at all what I'd imagined. I hope Disney doesn't stop making movies like this because of the risk involved... I can't imagine life without Rogue One. TV shows, limited or not are great but cinematic experiences are valuable, too.

If there is a chance to see Han, Lando, Kira and Maul feature in one of the many upcoming tv series we have been threatened with recently, that'll increase the interest in revisiting Solo.

Totally agree on the pacing in those two segments, the film seems to meander somewhat there. Luckily the rest of the movie makes up for it. The train sequence and kessel run are already high points in the franchise for me. It's a fun movie.

Sorry to be nitpicky, but it's Qi'ra.

It's all good, thank you.
I didn't spring for the Solo visual guide -or comic adaptation yet so I didn't notice the spelling of Qi'ra.

I want to know what happens to Qira.

Kor

Yeah! I felt that after the first viewing, too. I have hope that we will see what happens to her, and on screen, too.

If there was a movie that could use a trim of 15-20 minutes, it's this one. Looking forward to seeing some potential fan edits in the future. There didn't seem to be any critical deleted scenes, either.

Finally watched this again, and I it was just as good the second time as the first. I really hope we get some kind of follow up on what happened to Qi'ra after she took off, and how Maul went from the head of Crimson Dawn to where he was in Rebels.
I was thinking a story with Leia and Qi'ra having to deal with each other could be interesting.

I don't imagine Qi'ra living to A New Hope. She seems like the type that's going to die tragically...perhaps for a good cause, perhaps to save Han Solo one last time.

Somehow I wouldn't be too surprised if she was there the day Han lost Jabba's spice cargo. Maybe allowing him to escape, but dying to prevent the Imperials from following up.

I can easily see Qi'ra making it to ANH, hell, even as far as the ST depending on the direction they take her character.

I think it would be interesting if they continued with the idea that she and Han move in opposite directions as time goes on. While he's doing odd jobs for gangsters, she's usurping an underworld empire and stranding her boss on some forgotten dead world. While he's falling in with the rebellion, she's arranging under the table deals with the Empire to try and root out the Alliance's supply lines. When he's a family man and semi-retired war hero, she's the unassailable mistress of the underworld, competing with the Hutts in filling the power vacuums in the outer rim left by the fall of the Empire.

In that scenario, living to old age is the tragedy since despite clawing her way out from the gutter, she still has nothing.
