I meant in the sense of design or ordinance load-out. Not the presence or lack of hull decoration.

Pellaeon, I believe was the ship's XO and inherited command after the captain was killed at Endor. Pellaeon was also the one who realized the destruction of the Death Star pretty much turned the tide against the Imperial forces, and ordered a retreat. Because of this, Thrawn sought him out specifically to be his flag captain. Which kind of makes me wonder if they'll somehow incorporate Pellaeon into the show, or if it would require too much adjustments to his backstory. And Thrawn already has a lackey in Admiral Konstantine anyway, just not a particularly competent one.
"The Wynkathu Job": Hondo is always fun, but it's odd to see the slaver who bought Hera being treated as a comedy character. And Ezra was a real jerk to Zeb here.
Also, if the Empire had so many of these big, dangerous sentry droids, what the heck did they need with all those Stormtroopers who could barely see out of their helmets to shoot straight or avoid being hit by doors?

A fun little caper of an episode. I like that Ezra & Zeb's bickering has taken on a slightly more grown up tone. It never sat well with me in the first season how buffoonish they made him seem. It was almost like watching a very grumpy Jar Jar at times. This is a much better balance.
That door gag was much funnier than it had any right to be.
Maybe because like most battle droids, they're not that smart? Sure they're great at walking slowly in a straight line and shooting at things, but that's about their limit. Besides, it's not like they were crack shots compared to stormtroopers, or did I miss the part where they blew a hole in Hondo's head?

The droids remind me of a mix of the Dark Troopers and the Imperial battle droids from the Dark Empire comic.
And yes, the door gag was funnier than it should have been .
Hando is always fun to have around due in part to the voice work. The semi-heart of gold pirate who would probably sell you off, but likely not because he likes you. He's the fun Jedi sympathizer who is also rightly considered scum of the galaxy.
I also liked that Erza had a lot of reaction shots to Hando's actions. Some were almost off camera, but you can see the eyerolls or weak smiles at times.
The preview for next week again shows us how a lightsaber with enough motion beats about anything within reach.

Pretty much so. The Cargo Ship Sentry Droids are a dead ringer for Phase III Dark Troopers.
Also: Who remembers this Battle Droid concept art from The Phantom Menace where they look like Imperial Stormtroopers?

I'm finding Rebels to be getting a bit stale. I'm sure they'll bring their A-game to the finale but I wish the stuff in between was more compelling.
I think the point was to get the rebels the bombs they have been after for much of the season so far for some large operation on Lothal, that Thrawn seems to be expecting to happen along with Governor Price. Probably to blow up the TIE fighter factories on that world.
That would depend somewhat on K2's background. We don't know if there's something special about his model that it's only used at R&D facilities or if he's a standard issue sentry droid. Old? Brand new? We don't know.
Personally I think it was a fun way to include the dark trooper design without going the whole hog. While I know some fans would have preferred as such, but it just wouldn't make sense in the context of what we've seen in the Clone Wars.
For one thing, it's not new technology as it was in the EU. For another, droid soldiers are very limited in what they can do. There's a trade-off in that the less independence they're afforded the less effective they are, but the more independent the harder they are to control and you don't want a droid army that you can refuse a shut-down order like Kalani did.
There's also the notion that part of how Palpatine spreads his power is through corrupting others to the dark side (whether they're force sensitive or not.) And an army of billions of living beings oppressing a galaxy with a trillion acts of evil, big and small would very much serve that end. Droids on the other hand are dead things and have no influence on the force, one way or the other.
I think there's also something in there about entertaining children. That's still a thing cartoons are supposed to do, right?
There's also a little character progression for Ezra as he's started to see Hondo's actions with clearer eyes. He still likes him (remember he grew up as a street thief himself) but I think he trusts him a lot less now. We also got to see Ezra & Zeb's relationship mature a little.

I haven't played Dark Forces so I actually don't know anything about Dark Troopers.
Short version: super effective and scary imperial war droids meant to replace stormtroopers. Think the endoskeleton from Terminator inside a heavily armoured, flying exosuit and sporting an assault canon as a sidearm. The idea is a handful of these things get dropped on a target from orbit and those alone can single handedly wipe out an entire rebel military base.
"Dark Troopers" = "I can't see a thing in this helmet."
Funny you should say that. Oh and then there's these guys too. Just one more thing that made the EU such a mess!
But yeah, the only thing that makes them "dark" is that the armor on the exoshell is painted dark grey. And I suppose the project is something of a secret "black-ops" type of thing, in keeping with the whole "dark forces" motif.
I too, am finding this season starting to get a little stale.. Lots of "snatch and grab" stories, which is fine and have funny moments.. But still... Seems there is a much lighter tone going on here than there was, especially toward the end of last season. Yes, Ezra's character is developing and there have been some good moments with the rest of the crew, but right now, I'm just kind of "meh"... Am I missing something that others are seeing?
There were also the Phase 0 Dark Troopers (the ones seen in the original Battlefront) which were Clone Troopers forcibly turned into Cyborgs using the same tech that turned Anakin into Vader (and probably the same tech used to create General Grevious too)

The Purge troopers in The Force Unleashed were also a product of the same project, but are not classified as a Dark Trooper.
There are Dark Troopers already in the new canon which are based on the TFU Purge Trooper (If you consider the mobile games canon)

It looks like they're back to slightly darker episodes. Thrawn returns this week and there's another Maul episode next week.
I'm guessing these are former Tarkin Town inhabitants, that were taken away as slave labour at the beginning of season 02.
