Star Wars Rebels Season One (spoilers)

Brighthouse cable is once again a week ahead with the On Demand episode. Got to watch Out of Darkness this morning.

Just saw the Academy episode and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was very fast paced, almost to the point of being rushed. We learned a lot of really interesting things; Kaibur crystals for the Death Star, Imperial recruits are watched for Force potential and get snapped up by the Inquisitors...

...I also feel like we got a decent excuse for why Stormtroopers are so shitty. They're raised to be selfish back-stabbing creeps who turn on their own squad-mates rather than cooperate in combat. Clearly the Empire is not interested in training efficient soldiers, but in controllable evil goons.

It would have saved Vader a lot of trouble chasing Luke around the galaxy, if Luke had gone to an Imperial academy.

Perhaps, although the impression I got from the OT (and that scene in ANH where they're just talking like a couple of regular Joes), was that they were not really that well-trained to begin with, and were just a bunch of blue collar types only really in it for the paycheck.

The old EU has the Emperor using the force sensative troopers for special units. Sometimes the Royal Guard, but definately the Sovereign Protectors. Also sometimes experiments. If skilled enough they would become dark jedi types like the Inquisitor, or one of his "Hands".

I just remembered, "Breaking Ranks" is also notable for the first appearance of the smiling Stormtrooper helmets that will be used in Episode Seven! Just think these ten year olds wearing these training helmets will be wearing the real thing in EP7!

With my kids' schedules, it's been hit-or-miss (mostly miss) for me trying to catch the show. I don't have DVR, so does anyone know if there's any other legal way of seeing the episodes?

They're available for $1.99 each from YouTube, Google Play, and Amazon, or $2.99 each on iTunes (or in HD from Amazon). And it looks like you can watch them for free on the Disney XD site if you have the right "provider" (I guess like a cable or satellite service) -- there's an FAQ here. Failing that, it looks like the episodes will be available to watch for free after 30 days, if you don't mind being a month behind.

Cool! Looks like I have one of the right providers, so I'm in business! Thanks! :techman:

B.J., does your cable service have "On Demand"? Right now, all episodes are available on Charter's "On Demand" for the Disney XD channel. No cost if you have it and you can binge all the current episodes in about 2 1/2 hours...

Q2

There's also the fact that each episode is airing about five times every week at various times on various Disney channels. :)
