Star Wars Rebels Season One (spoilers)

Yeah, the TIE fighters in the episode were just sitting on the docking bay floor rather than up in any overhead racks, so they had to climb up rolling stairs and jump in.

This is  news.

There was an interview with FPJ online (last Rebels Recon?) where he said that season two starts "exactly where we want it to." There was only one scene I could think of that would be exactly where I want it to go and it looks like it's on this poster:

Is it possible, in all our discussions that we hadn't considered that
They have already been in contact with one another? Many times? Several encounters? I mean seriously, what does Vader do with all his time lingering in the shadows? I submit... that this encounter is not their first and there is an established conflict between the two. And to me, that sounds like the most exciting reveal of the season two premiere.
.. that's how I am reading into it anyway, I could be totally off.

Rebels POSTER is awesome.

Still no word on when Rebels Season 2 premiere comes to the plebs... but I believe the Chosen Ones at Celebration are due to screen this in a few hours from now.

^Well this was pretty much inevitable, no? ;)
I'd be surprised if it happens before the mid-season cliffhanger. They were usually pretty good in TCW about not having a duel with Ventress or Grevious too often.

I'm guessing that's not the case simply for dramatic reasons; that first confrontation is something that the audience needs to witness.

As for what Vader has been up to: remember there were 10,000 Jedi before the Republic fell. Even if Order 66 & the temple massacre accounted for 90% of them, that's still about a thousands on the loose. That's a thousand highly trained, highly disciplined warriors adept at blending into crowds when they have to, quite used to living a spartan lifestyle and able to influence the weak minded to cover their tracks. More than enough to keep Vader busy for well over a decade.
Case in point, just look at how successful Kanan was at staying hidden and he was just a Padawan, fresh out of the temple and only just recently assigned as an apprentice to a master.

As for Ahsoka, they've implied that she's spent a number of years off the grid (probably way out on the outer rim) on a spiritual journey or some-such. Supposedly as some point she found an ancient abandoned temple where she got her new armor, weapons and (this is just me speculating) maybe even an old C-1 astromech.

Just saw the 3 minute preview season 2 and it looked very good. Looks like we'll be getting a nice dose of...

Ahsoka, Vader, Hondo, and Rex & other Clone Troopers! There are also the two new Inquisitors. I wonder if the one in the Cobra Commander mask is a known character. Maybe Ventress.

They just put the vid on Facebook

The season 2 video was awesome. I thought Season 1 of Rebels was decent, but now that they've had a season to set the show up, it looks like its going to get even better.

Oh man, I'm so loving that they're bringing back Clone Wars into this. It was probably the intention all along but part of me is kind of curious if they had to sell Disney on the Rebels bit first and then kind of backdoor'd that stuff in. Actually, either way it's a good way to merge the old into the new.

Vader looks coldly menacing as he should be. He scared the crap out of me as a kid in ANH and TESB (when I was let's see, 6 and 9 I believe). Unlike other villains with silly laughs and over-the-top histrionics Vader's calculated ruthlessness made him believable.

"I've been waiting for you, Snips. We meet again at last. The circle is now complete; when I left you I was but the master, now I am...still the master."

Well that was fun. Random thoughts in no particular order: -

  • Vader seemingly taking on a whole rebel convoy single handedly and apparently kicking their arses. It's good to see they remembered this guy is still probably yhr best starpilot in the galaxy. ;)

  • As expected the Ghost crew are forced off Lothal by increased Imperial pressure.

  • Sam Witwer continues to impress with a pretty good Palpatine performance.

  • Interesting that Kanan is reluctant to join the Rebel Alliance, preferring to stick to the independent honourable thief approach. Presumably Hera is (and always was) willing to go all in.

  • Hera seemingly test-flying a prototype B-Wing? Cool! Between this and the A-Wings it puts me in mind of the old Droids cartoon.

  • Seems as though Ahsoka may already recognise Vader's presence, though it's possible they're only talking in general terms and not about a specific person.

  • Rex! Thought he might show up and I'm sure there's a story behind how he and those others didn't get triggered by Order 66 (I doubt the biochips are discriminating enough to know Ahsoka isn't technically a Jedi.)

  • An elderly (and respectably dressed?) Hondo: They really are going ham with tying this all back into TCW. Not that I didn't expect him to show up sooner or later. He's far to much of a fun character not to use again. From the outfit it looks like he may have preceded Lando in going "respectable".

  • Two new Inquisitors. Doubt Ventress would ever willingly work for Sidious again, so I'm assuming the female is the character Sarah Michelle Gellar is voicing. Maybe the helmet is to hide the red hair? ;)

  • Nice to see they're giving Vader's presence the appropriate degree of menace and peril. I'd hate to see him trivialised. Also, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I swear they're animating Vader in a way that very much reminds me of how Anakin moved in TCW.

And was that Jim Cummings's Hondo too? Wow, it's really becoming a TCW continuation now. Hopefully Filoni will get to work in some of his unused story threads from TCW in some form.

It's also starting to feel a lot more like the original trilogy, with Vader coming into the story (and Tarkin hopefully continuing to play a big role). Everything in season 1 was just the prologue.

That was James Earl Jones as Vader, wasn't it? Which is cool, but the problem is that I can't help thinking Vader is going to start talking about Arby's at any moment.
