Star Wars Rebels Season Four (spoilers)

Great clip!! Wow, that got me stoked for Monday. To see Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma clash about following or disregarding any rules of engagement for the Rebellion... they are finally going to start tying Rogue One more in with the end of Rebels.

Saw's hair... I wonder if we'll get word on the specifics of another time jump in S04?

The fight for Mandalor might have taken some time. But Lothal is still in the open. This could be starting just a year before the Battle of Yavin, or this is still between one and two years before that battle as if things start right back up only three to six months after the end of season three.

Well looking at the key art for the new season it looks like Sabine's hair has changed again, while during the premiere it was the same as it was for season 3. So I think it's possible that while what we just saw continued on fairly shortly after Zero Hour (a week or two at most) the rest of the season may be quite a bit later.

As for how close we're getting to RO & ANH, I think we're getting *very* close. IIRC the season 3 premier was something like 2 years prior, give or take and enough happened that it could easily have covered most of that year, which means we're probably now a year or less away. Given the relative proximity, I'd be surprised if they didn't end it with *some* sort of hand-off to the movies.

If the final episode doesn't show the battle of Scarif from the Ghost's perspective I'll eat a Mandalorian helmet.

^I think it could go either way. On the one hand, yes, it'd be very cool and interesting but on the other, that's not the Ghost crew's story and using that for the finale might feel a little off (lest we for get Enterprise's 'These are the Voyages')
If I had to guess, it's possible they might do an epilogue/montage sequence that might briefly feature that and whatever else everyone who survives did over the course of the next five years, presumable culminating in Jakku? Might be a bit too bloated though.

On the other hand maybe they'll go the 'Sleeping in Light' route and give us a whole episode after the dramatic climax of the show to wind down and take stock with all the characters. A 22 minute denouement of sorts.

How about it ends on a big note, then we get a theatrical film closing it all out?

Yeah, too dreamy.
They would have already announced it if it were the case. Remember that animation has about a year's lead-time, so such a project would already be in the recording stage if it existed.

I could see them getting to Rogue One from the Ghost's point of view, but ending before the Battle starts.

I could see Hera talking to Mon Mothma about all they will probably lose now that the Alliance has decided to now fight and the Empire has this Death Star thing. Her monolog in the first season four trailer seems almost exactly like a way to tie in the end with Rogue One. Regardless of who is left of the Ghost's crew. With the story ending by someone reporting that someone stole the Imperial shuttle and Jyn's gone missing.

It also be interesting if the Ghost and Tantive IV were together on their last mission before Scarif. It give a reason for Leia's ship to have been damaged and inside the Rebel cruiser, and why Hera wasn't at the meeting, but called in afterwards.

Though it be nice to get a scene of what happened to the Ghost after Scarif. We saw it for the entire battle, until the Death Star arrived. Then the ship was absent, even before the fleet started to jump out of the system.

That's actually a very interesting possibility as Leia is by far this show's strongest tie to the main saga, even though she only showed up once thus far. It'd be nice to the show to pass the baton (figuratively speaking) off to her before signing off.

I had a notion a while back that they could show the events of RO & ANH from the Ghost's perspective. Or rather what they were doing. Specifically I thought Hera might have gone out searching for Leia (hence her absence from Yavin at the end of ANH) and be basically one step behind or ahead of the events we saw. For example: departing Alderaan after dropping off Bail just in time to witness the planet's destruction. Or maybe retracing the droid's footsteps on Tatooine, not realising that Leia never made it off the ship. But I think that sort of thing is more suited to a comic or short story than the show itself.

I get the impression they intentionally avoided showing the Ghost's exist to leave some wiggle room if Filloni or someone else ever wants to fill that gap.

IIRC, Filoni has said he's not interested in doing Rogue One from the Ghost crew's perspective, feeling if they did anything worth showing it would have been in the movie.

To give a bit of reference, they just announced a week or two ago that they're going to start work on a Bob's Burgers movie, and that it won't be out until 2020.

I'm hoping that there are secret plans for a new show set between VI and VII, and that Rebels ends on a note that leaves us with plenty of pieces on the table to pick up post-ROTJ. If Rex was at the Battle of Endor, why not the rest of them? Don't straight-up continue Rebels maybe, but use remaining threads the way Rebels did from Clone Wars.

IIRC, an upcoming Forces of Destiny is supposed to show Hera at Endor.

If there is a new show in the works then that would be the logical time period to set it. Both from a story telling standpoint and marketing. The former because it's currently still quite vague as to what went on in that period and the latter because by the time any new show is out, TLJ would probably have filled in most of what the ST is going to cover and thus it's safe for other projects to dig in.

The only other "era" (for lack of a better term) that would make sense and be exciting would be something in the Old Republic, maybe drawing on KotOR and/or TotJ for inspiration. They could do something closer to the PT like a young Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon show, but that feels like it'd be a bit too similar to Clone Wars. Similarly a show set during the OT while also possible would probably feel a little too close to Rebels.

Pablo Hidalgo implied that if there will be any new animation announcements, they'll be at the next Celebration, which is in 2019.

Well yeah, that's generally when they announce anything major. It's kind of the whole point of that event.

It looks like they aren't adding the new episodes to the Disney NOW App, but they do have all of the other episodes.
