Star Wars live action series?

^ But then, Idiot Braga referred to VOY as "The X-Files of STAR TREK".

What we ACTUALLY got was the Keystone Kops version of ST.

The big question is, will this series be mature? The clone wars is fine for kids but a live action show should be much more mature and target 18 to 40 year olds who grew up with Star Wars but adon't want to see a dam kid show!

If you look at the Wookiepedia entry they have a link to an interview where Lucas says the show will air on HBO. Its described as Deadwood and the Sopranos in Space.

so the rebellion will be run out of a strip club on couriscant?

The best idea for the series would be to set it in the 'Knights of the Old Republic' timeframe , They are doing this with the new online game (at least someone over at LF has brains :) ), a series would be cool as well and not have any canon restrictions to worry about.

I like the description. Morally gray, straight action hour reminescent of BSG and Firefly. I'm in.

Lucas seems to be good about getting things he announces done, even if he takes his time doing it.

The time period is interesting. I'm hoping for more Han Solo like characters, which was missing from the prequels. But I also would like more Jedi awesomeness, which is missing from the OT.

I've been impressed with Clone Wars so far and while it's kids fare, it's got its dark side too, with the way the clones and some Jedi get off'd.

I do want to see a live action show and Lucas can fund the thing so we have top-notch movie effects on a TV show, even though now we see some pretty great FX on BSG, Stargate and Sanctuary.

Like others, I've been pleasantly surprised at how nicely crafted the new Clone Wars series has turned out to be, so maybe they can pull off a live action show as well. I hope so.

I love all things Star Wars so I'm dying to see this show finally come 'round. I just really really wish they'd have a Jedi character on the show, but in one of the interviews they said there would be no Jedi. Star Wars is going to be seriously lacking something without any lightsaber on lightsaber action. I'm going to edit out my own "crossing swords" joke here...

Just wanted to add (wouldn't let me edit):

There is also a paraphrase that says it would be available on StarWars.Com also.

That was my first thought as well. Something with lots of swearing, drinking and fat tats hangin'. That's what Star Wars is all about. ;) Wink.

^ Maybe the show will be set out of Jabba's Palace?

The show is rumored to focus on the Jedi purge, of which Jabba was said to be heavily involved.

Jabba even says so, in the novelization and comic adaptation of Return of the Jedi. Something to the effect of, "I've been hunting down Jedi since before you were born."

^True, but in that same book, Kenobi tells Luke that he took him to live with "his" brother, Owen Lars. And since that has been retconned by Attack of the Clones, I'm sure we can pretty much ignore any other backstory the novel gives us. Of course, its been 25 years since I first read it, so I could be wrong.

That bloated sack of filth couldn't hunt down a cheeseburger without breaking into a slugsweat!

He's right behind me, isn't he? :shifty:

^ What's amazing though is that the invasion of Nal Hutta in the video game Empire at War is one of the hardest levels.
