STAR WARS: How strong was General Grevious compared to other Jedi?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey all, so i've been thinking a lot about this and was curious as to how strong General Grevious was in comparison to other Jedi. i don't have a list of who he's taken down in combat, but from what i can tell he seems to be in between the rank of a Master and a Knight. he was beating down Obi-Wan before he made a mistake. i'd say he could easily beat Anakin prior to him becoming Darth Vader. he seems like he's in between Anakin and Obi-Wan in terms of strength.

i've heard we'll never see Grevious face off against Anakin. is this true? if so, it seems like a big shame.

how long would Grevious last again some like Windu? is it possible for him to challenge these high ranking Masters without force sensitivity? could he continue to upgrade himself and improve his sabre skills and eventually make it there? with training from Dooku, i don't see why he couldn't?

it was largely down to him having cybernetic reflexes to compete with Force reflexes, Jedi not having fought many sabre-weilding opponents and his cheating with extra limbs.

once he went up against someone with experience fighting TWO Sith lords in sabre fights, he got his ass handed to him.

And to be clear he was not Force sensitive. Just very, very fast due to the cybernetics.

Mace is the reason why Grevious has that cough...he sliced his vocal cords or some such during a confrontation. Your fascination and admiration of Grevious is amusing. He's taken down a lot of Jedi. I believe when he first was introduced in the micro-series he had already started his personal collection of lightsabers, he boasted four I think. Grevious really wasn't meant to be a rival for Anakin (he's actually Lucas' attempt to foreshadow what happens to Anakin) that is Ventress.

Grievous seems to have gotten weaker. He was taken down by Gungans in episode 4 of Clone Wars season 4.

What I find odd is that Grievous did not come from a 4-armed species, so how is his brain dealing with two extra arms (that he sometime uses)?

His whole motivation is to kill Jedi, and I can't remember why. This seem to make him a crappy military leader, actually, since he doesn't care about the Seperatist cause. But seeing how the Sith are running both sides, it's not like he could've won the war.

I think the current retcon would be that Mace's Force-crush made it worse. Of course, everything was much tighter before TCW, but that's usually the case.

does anyone know what would have happened to grevious if he survived the clone wars? would sidious have kept along as an enforcer of the Empire? that would have made for some great story lines.

General Greivious was meant to be a foreshadowing of what happens to Anakin, and yet another pawn in Palpatine's plans. He served a minor role in the large scheme of things. If he managed to survive, I've no doubt the Emperor would have dispatched Darth Vader to get rid of him. Remember that Palpatine orders the complete shut down of all clones at the end of Revenge of the Sith, and Grevious's entire purpose is the commander of the droid army. He would serve absolutely no purpose if he survived and would probably be on the run.

Well his reanimated droid corpse was hanging around on Kashyyyk for quite a while, repeatedly being beaten up by random space adventurers. Not that great of a storyline really.

no i mean if grevious, the actual personality was still intact -- not just his body.

Sure we are not talking about General Grimace?

Dooku specifically said in EU that if he went up against a Council member he'd get his ass handed to him.
