Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It is a bit ironic that Harrison gets through four Indiana Jones films and The Fugitive without breaking a limb and being sidelined for any extensive period of time and survives some of the more physically demanding and rigorous shoots of any Hollywood leading man and action star, then spends a few days on the Episode VII set and a piece of his old ship tries to crush him alive. Poor guy.

Probably Karma.

Alot of the credit though goes thet various stunt men he's wroked with over the years, people like Stallone and Jackie Chan get hurt far more often.

Still this injury might production, the movie's release date got pushed back as it is, this might mean an later release date.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Meh. If it got delayed until the summer of 2016 I'd be one of the last to complain. We'd have already waited over a decade since the previous Episode in the Saga.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I and I'd like to think many others haven't been waiting in Ep. III for the sequels to come out. The fact that Disney bought them from Lucas was a total surprise, let alone the announcement of the sequels adn the spinoff movies.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

JJ Abrams can never meet a deadline anyway.

I'm a big fan of his movies (well, except for that last one...), but I have a feeling that might have been a big factor in Disney's decision to go with a different director for the sequels. Because I have a hard time believing their original intention was to hire someone with JJ's cred for only one movie.

I think it has more to do with Abrams not being happy about filming in England and being away from his family.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I know that's the official line, but I think he still would have been willing to make an exception for SW. Or at least stuck around to help produce or something.

I don't know, Abrams's problem with deadlines was well known before Disney hired him for Star Wars, both his Trek films were delayed. And Abrams was initially reluctant to do Star Wars, but Disney pursued him anyway. I'm pretty certain it's more a choice on Abrams's part to stay out of the other movies than it being Disney's choice.

Why would he make an exception if he truly wasn't happy with the arrangement? Maybe he was hoping to convince Disney to move production of Episodes VIII & IX to the States and when that didn't materialize he decided he'd be one and done.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I thoght there was talk of Abrams helping to produce and develop the spinoff movies. And given that Ep. VIII was pushed back production of Ep. IX would have been in trouble as well.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Yes - I've been thinking that for a while now. We used to have one - could that be re-opened?

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Theres new movies, as well as the 6 (+2,3 Ewok movies) The clone wars series, the upcoming Rebels series....

But the last time a SW forum was even mentioned, i remember angry mods. :\

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Well there was one for the prequels. Given the volume of material the franchise is expected to start churning out, I'm sure a star wars sub-forum isn't out of the question. (?)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

With all these new films, as well as anew show, I think the mods can open up a whole Star Wars sub-forum

Maybe next year or whenever Episode VII is released and the discussion really starts building. At the moment, most Star Wars discussion is limited to just this one thread, so we're good for the time being.

These movies are supposed to come out in the summer. The Falcon's ramp knows.

The will of the ramp works in mysterious ways.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Yeah, most release dates for films are arbitrary and I don't really care when they hit theaters. Whether a new Star Trek film premieres in June or in November means nothing to me except that I'd generally prefer not to wait five more months to go see it. Star Wars is a little different. For 28 years they were late spring/early summer pop culture events. They're sort of unofficially meant as summer films.

If Disney, Lucasfilm and Abrams had to delay the release of Episode VII until, say, May of 2016 I'm sure you'd hear the sounds of a few champagne bottle corks popping.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I'd rather not wait any longer myself, but that's only if they are able to actually complete the film on time, and don't have a bunch of rushed or half-finished effects throughout.

I don't want another situation like with the latest X-Men, where there's a sudden drop in quality of CGI towards the end of the movie.
