Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

^ Thought it was a pretty cool action sequence myself. Of course the prequels are full of good action sequences that still somehow don't add up to anything worthwhile in the end.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Hmm, if that is Tatooine, it sounds like we might be seeing some kind of huge battle or attack on a city there. Which is something we haven't seen before with all our visits to that planet.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Lucas wanted the Prequel characters to be more cold and austere because it was the high point of civilization. Obviously not a decision that most of us agree with

The arrogance of the Jedi contributing to their downfall was evident.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I'm just saying, it wouldn't have been the end of the world if they were allowed to use contractions

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

With Padmé the more formal way of speaking made sense because she had spent almost a decade in the Naboo royal court as her people's Queen and encountered rigid protocol every day she sat on the throne. Those sorts of speech patterns and ways of carrying one's self tend to linger, and then almost immediately after she gave up the throne she was elected Naboo's Senator on Coruscant, and the political realm of the Republic was also full of a great deal of somewhat refined speech and more formal traditions of communicating.

With many of the more pedestrian and less-refined characters it made less sense, but....meh. It helped set the Prequel and OT eras apart from one another so it served its purpose.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

It would be news if one of the involved would say it's going to be terrible. ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Well there were similar sentiments expressed by Daniels and Hamill, so I'm fairly confident it's not just a hype thing. If they weren't that impressed by what they've seen and read, they likely would have just kept quiet.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I think it's a safe bet that none of the actors in their right minds would openly criticise the movies ahead of time, regardless of what they think. The only ones I can see not towing the company line would be Ford & Fisher.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Oh, don't worry. We have our very own people to say how terrible the new movie is going to be. ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

People on a Star Trek message board bash a Star Wars film? That's news to the world.

It sounds stupid, but for a second there I thought to myself "but this isn't a Star Trek board." Probably has something to do with the fact I can't remember the last time I posted in the Trek related thread. ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

^ Ha, same here. Much as I love Trek it just takes way too long to wade through the multitude of forums and posts on this site. At least here everything feels a bit calmer and more organized.

Shame they can't allow just one Star Trek movie thread on here, for people who just want to discuss the upcoming movies.
