Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I'll be kind of grateful if Abrams takes his usual approach of tight-lipped secrecy. With each of the Prequels I promised myself I'd go spoiler-free and I always failed. When it comes to Star Wars spoilers I have all the willpower of a heroin addict.

The era of the Internet has made remaining completely spoiler-free for an extended period of time almost impossible short of turning off all your electronic connections to the outside world and avoiding looking at magazine and newspaper headlines. I don't actively avoid spoilers most of the time but even if I desired to I just don't see how I could pull it off with any measure of success in the age of smartphones, tablets, social media and people just generally blabbing about every pop culture and entertainment story they just heard.
I just hope the movie is dark and creepy. You don't name something "The Phantom Menace" and then make half your movie about pod racing. "The Ancient Fear" warrants creepiness.

I cannot think of a, "creepy," sci-fi movie Disney has made since the Black Hole. And sorry, Tron wasn't creepy.

In regards to Star Wars, I wouldn't mind a darker movie. That's what we were promised for Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. And, we were robbed.
Other films in the "Star Wars Universe" but not labeled "Episode #" are planned, correct? Perhaps, and I hope it is so, we'll get those kind of story's there. A sort of 'EU' in film, and canon(?) form.![]()
I guess what I'm really hoping for is almost a "Fellowship of the Ring" style story. Both Star Wars trilogies began with some kind of threat and ended with victory and celebration. I think Episode VII should do the opposite.
It's 30 years later. The Rebels won, and the Empire has been defeated. The galaxy has been enjoying a great time of peace and prosperity.
UNTIL AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS AND THREATENS TO DESTROY THEM ALL.
Basically, by the end of Episode VII, I want to genuinely fear what's coming. I want to know that the galaxy is in peril. I don't want to have a random adventure that ends with a parade.
I'll amend that slightly. After all that there's a black screen, and we hear a voice say "Master Luke?"The teaser trailer will probably be
"A long time ago in a galaxy far far away"
STAR WARS
brief cuts of scenes like lightsabers and ships flying by
"Summer 2015"
