Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

It hurts to have something you love transform into something you don't. Like a partner who changes so much that they are no longer the person you started dating or agreed to marry. Not only do you have the loss to mourn, but there is this pretender constantly reminding you of what you once had and can never have again....

Anyone who compares a series of movies to a personal relationship has deeper issues than just PT hatred...

Yeah, it's way more appropriate to describe what happened with the Special Editions. :p

BTW, on the disturbing scale, I like Pegg but saying "It’s an exercise in utter infanticide… (like) George Lucas killing his kid." seem way more disturbing to me.

I love and adore Simon Pegg and he seems like a celebrity who'd be lots of fun to know and hang out with in real life, but sometimes the PT hate from guys like him goes overboard. Not respecting anybody who thinks the Prequels were good is a bit much, though it could just be nerd hyperbole in a heated moment and we all know how easy it is to get whipped up over geek stuff in a debate or argument. I understand he had a negative experience seeing Episode I when it was first released (lots of people did) but keeping some perspective is always a good thing.
I completely agree. He's done a lot of great stuff over the years, so I have a huge amount of respect for him, but his comments about the PT are going a little overboard.
I think I'm going to have to check out a physical copy of the Star Wars EW issue before I decide if I want to buy the digital version. I made the mistake of getting the Fall Preview issue for the SW article, and it turned out it was the exact same article I already read on their website.

To paraphrase another fan: Poor Threepio. He finally gets two gold shinplates and ends up losing his left arm, requiring a red replacement.

If this is true I'd better head down to Tosche Station and get those power converters before it airs!

It's been almost 40 years. I hope they still have 'em.

With all due respect to Mr. Pegg, I can't respect anyone who trashes the prequels but loves Return of the Jedi.

The 'fault' is in thinking he 'gets' Star Wars any more (or less) than any of us. What's it matter anyway?

Apparently it does, because it still gets comments on the PT gets discussed at length to this day.

BOOM.
That hurt :ouch:

Personally, I'll take ROTJ over the PT most days. Except for Duel of the Fates.
Small exception there ;)
"Anakin's theme" is brilliant too, IMO. Also, production design and cinematography are at a higher level as well, and the sheer scope of that movie goes way beyond anything seen in the original three films.

My favorite themes from Star Wars:

"Battle of the Heroes" (ROTS)
"Imperial March" (TESB)
"Duel of the Fates" (TPhM)
"Blockade Runner" (ANeH)

(Sorry, had this compulsory need to ensure that all movies were represented by four letters in their abbreviation.) :D

"Anakin's Theme" just might be the most brilliant piece of music Williams composed for the Prequel Trilogy, surpassing even "Duel of the Fates." I have never once listened to "Anakin's Theme" and found something to nitpick about it or how it was used in the film.

It's one of the most beautiful things that John Williams has composed in the last twenty years, Star Wars soundtracks or not.

It looks like we will be getting a new teaser/trailer on Thursday and supposedly it will have footage of Luke in it.

Source?
It's probably part of the ABC TGIT (Thank God It's Thursday) Star Wars thing. They're supposed to be doing some of "special look"/"sneak peek" kind of thing during tonight's shows. I don't know of any specific sites to link to, but I've seen ads for it on TV and on the web.

Entertainment Weekly has some material from their special TFA issue up on their website.
They're supposed to be adding more stuff throughout the next few days, so I'll be adding stuff as I come across it.
27 new pictures, with some new info in the descriptions.
JJ Abrams reveals backstory of alien Maz Kanata
She's not called "Princess" Leia anymore

Harrison Ford IS Han Solo

New article 1
Supreme Leader Snoke: Andy Serkis on the "damaged" villain of Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Haha yeah, it cracks me up that with all the threads in here, no one's apparently talking about all the cool new stuff from EW this week.

I thought the stuff about Leia and how she's now this war weary general with the weight of the world on her shoulders was the most interesting. It should be cool seeing Fisher pull that off after having not acted in such a long time.

And they just had another new article about Luke. As expected, the reason they haven't revealed much about him yet is because "What happened to Luke?" is basically the central mystery of the movie.
