Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

As much as I love Kanan, Ezra and Asoka, I really want it to remain that Luke is truly the last of the Jedi and is the only force user left by the end of RotJ. Unfortunately that would mean that they have to die. The title The Force Awakens implies that the force is in fact dormant and Luke is the sole force user, even Leah dosnt know how to use the force. It also implies that after RotJ, Luke was unable to find potential new Jedi. How or why, I suspect will be answered in the movie.

I don't want events that happened in the OT to be deminished in any way. Luke was our hero and the last best hope for the rebel alliance. It's pretty clear in the OT that the Jedi were seen as leaders and trusted as such. There clearly was a desire by the rebel alliance for the Jedi to return. The title Return of the Jedi, in my mind, implied that after Endor, Luke would seek to rebuild the Jedi order and restore peace to the Galaxy. Obviously that didn't happen, but we don't know why. I want Luke to fulfill his destiny and become the leader they so desperately need. Passing the torch is all fine and dandy, but Luke's role in this new trilogy should be significant, otherwise it's just a rehash of the OT.

But seriously! We never saw the two of them after Season 5 of TCW. Who's to say they didn't team up for a while? Ventress was finally starting to come around to the good side.

Actually the concept of Ahsoka showing up as an elderly Togruta in one of the Sequel Trilogy movies has been something I've been interested in ever since The Clone Wars ended and the new movies were announced. We know she's alive until at least the Rebels era and if Vader or some other villain doesn't kill her during this timeframe she could well survive into the post-Endor period of galactic history.

Considering her age in TCW, she wouldn't even have to appear all that old.

True, she could resemble Shaak Ti in AOTC and ROTS and still be believable as an "elderly" Togruta, if indeed they have exceptionally long lifespans and don't age very much from a physical standpoint for many decades. Any actress playing her in a live-action Sequel Trilogy film wouldn't need "old age" makeup of a traditional kind, just enough to look like Ahsoka as a much older woman than she was during Rebels.

Ventress will appear in the novel Dark Disciple, which takes place during the Clone Wars and is based on a unfinished story arc written by Lucas's adopted daughter Katie Lucas (Although the final novel is by Christie Golden).

The novel will also feature Quinlan Vos, who is mostly the creation of John Ostrander (although the character sort of first appears in Phantom Menace as a Mos Espa extra) for Dark Horse's Star Wars comics, but who appeared in Clone Wars and was name-dropped in Revenge Of The Sith (Another comics character from the same basic storyline, Aayla Secura appears in AOTC and ROTS). I wonder what backstory, if any, they'll use from the now mostly non-canon comics.

Getting back to The Force Awakens, I'm kind of curious...
About Andy Serkis's role. We know that Kybo Ren is Adam Driver, although I suppose they could do the Vader thing and have had Serkis dub him over when he has his mask; but I think Andy-whose voice was in the first trailer released last year-is possibly the mysterious Uber, who I think might be the messed-up Cyborg we've seen in some of the concept work who has Vader's melted helmet-which was seen in the second trailer. I think he might be the Emperor/Sidious analog to Ren's Vader, the whole behind-the-scenes dark side master. Then again it's not clear who Max Von Sydow is playing, although I've heard reports that he's actually playing a sort of good guy, who Rey works with and who is a veteran of the various wars over the years. Granted, I've not read a lot of the spoilers, so it's possible everybody already knows all this.

Soooooo...Andy Serkis...messed up Cyborg...melted helmet...symbol of Evil...pleeeeeze do not tell me the Helmet is...

...The Precious!

A CGI Darth Vader played by Andy Serkis? We've seen weirder out of the franchise. I imagine if there are any flashback sequences of Vader in his prime they might use CGI and motion capture to create a dynamic Vader and not go through the expense of training another actor or stuntman to wear the costume.

1. JJ would still rather put a guy in the suit

2. CGI Vader's mocap should be done by someone tall and broad-shouldered.

3. Vader is dead

4. in case of flashbacks, get Hayden. Because haters' butthurt would be glorious.

#1. Possibly.

#2. Maybe so, but they could always digitally tweak the images to make them look just right. Serkis has that fluid motion, though, that even many stuntmen can't surpass or even equal.

#3. True dat.

#4. It would be hilarious just for the sake of watching the most hardcore fanboys' faces melt like that of a Nazi looking into the Lost Ark.

Yeah, Andy is like a god of mocap. Can't argue with that.
