Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Thumb Wars rocks:

Loke Groundrunner: Who are you?
Oobedoob Benubi: I am Oobidoob Benubi, I have the silliest name in the galaxy.
Loke Groundrunner: What's your middle name?
Oobedoob Benubi: Scooby-dooby.
Loke Groundrunner: Oobidoob Scooby-dooby Benubi?!
Oobedoob Benubi: One and the same, and you must be... the crybaby!

Loke Groundrunner: I'm going to trust my feelings and use the power of the thumb.
Voice of Oobedoob Benubi: Use the instrument panel, Loke.
Loke Groundrunner: What?
Voice of Oobedoob Benubi: The instrument panel. That's what it's there for. Advanced weaponry designed to hit tiny targets.
Loke Groundrunner: Ok, ok.

I did. So that's not far from your locale eh? (Well, 100 miles is not what I'd call near, I guess. :) )
Cool. You gonna try to get your own documentation of the filming? :)

Btw, great avatar! I love Dune!

Thanks for the nice words about the avatar, martok. I love it, too, and if Shai Hulud was gonna be anywhere, it would be here! :techman:

100 miles here is not that far actually, because of the speeds at which they drive. You bet I'm gonna to get close! They probably won't let me get within 8 sand dunes of them, but I know where they are on a map. If there is more, I will share!

May Shai Hulud bless your path then.
Just watch out for drum sand, for Shai Hulud is not picky! :)

Yeah, but they're still canonical characters even if George and the movie scriptwriters didn't invent the names. The Star Wars universe both big screen and small knows no shortage of goofy names.

Case in point: Droopy McCool.

;)

Moon Unit Zappa and her sisteer Diva Muffin Zappa are still doing stuff. As are their brothers Ahmet Emuukha Rodan Zappa, and Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa ("Deweezil" Zappa).

Frank was weird, man.

I thank you. As this place is so very much like Arrakis, the words of Stigar serve very well;

"You do not beg the sun for Mercy."

Hey, hey, hey, now. Keep it tasteful.

I have my good friend and fellow Star Wars geek Hugh Jass on the phone.

As long as we always have Conan Antonio Motti to kick around and Obi-Wan hails from the planet Stewjon, all will be well with the Galaxy.

Jeez, somebody keep Lucas away from talk show hosts before he goes on the Sheev Harvey show or something.

Speaking of phones, you know that scene in "2001" when Dr. Floyd calls home for his daughter's birthday? I learned from some storyboards that moneil found that his middle name was Jablohme!

During my recent stay in the hospital, where I had to have a few procedures performed on me, I always called to mind the Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear before they put me under...after saying a brief prayer. It, along with the anaesthetics, put me at peace.

Bless the Maker and All His Water, how I love the litany! I am glad it brought you peace and strength.

Bi La-Kaifa...and thank you. :)

The first few days in hospital were pretty harrowing. I was worried that the diagnosis might have turned up diabetes or pancreatic cancer, and even the doctors were concerned....but thankfully, it was just a damaged (beyond hope) gallbladder which had to be removed...and some gallstones in my liver duct.

I have one more (hopefully only one more) procedure next month. For now, save for the post op pain, I am doing alright...although I shan't be singing (I am a professional musician) for the next month or so. :)

Good News so far! Here is to more for you, and to getting you back to singing. I have been a secret back-up singer for as long as I can remember. I chose instrumental for Grade and High School, but next life I will be a Harmony Back-Up Singer such that people will weep and discorporate when they hear my voice! :techman:

...well, maybe not "discorporate"...
