Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

I just felt that (kind of seeing the forest for the trees) there as something claustrophobic about it, and you get that feeling even as a kid.

I always liked that about Dagobah, the woods are so thick that it feels more like a huge cavern. I find it somewhat cozy (I know, I'm weird.;)).

No. You're not.

I guess I never got the memo that suddenly we all hated the Dagobah setting.

I guess that's a think now. :wtf:

Oh well, everybody pile on!

I personally enjoy Dagobah and think that less is more, in terms of the visuals. It feels small only because there is so much more out there that is concealed by the fog and trees. Like the swap monster that ate R2, we don't see it but we can guess.

It always felt like there was so much more to the planet it felt really mysterious.

Also, if you played it on Battlefront 2, it sucked because you never knew where the enemy was hiding.

I'm watching The Theory of Everything right now. Felicity Jones is my new official celebrity crush. She is so insanely gorgeous!

I like the Godfather and recognize it as a classic film. I also like Goodfellas and Untouchables.

But film as a medium for telling stories has always over-glorified and added way too much prominence to the role of organized crime in our society, as if these are great men worthy of celebrity. I can't say the genre interests me as it once did. It might be cinematic enough for the screen, but that alone hardly matters to me. I don't have anything against people who are not interested in the Godfather for this reason

Spoilers for the Godfather trilogy (Although I don't think it's that necesarry to put them in code considering the age of the films)

In a few ways, the fall of Michael Corleone is similar to that of Anakin: In trying to save his family, he loses them (and himself to a degree).

Order 66 is in a few ways is similar to the way Godfather winds up it's plot (in pretty much all of the movies).

Of course Copolla did those type of scenes way better than Lucas did. :)

ROTJ and the Godfather III-although both the weakest of their trilogies-also show Michael and Vader starting to regret their past mistakes and go for redemption; Vader of course succeeds but dies, Michael tries of course but he loses his daughter (and presumabely Kay and his son yet again-Kay has a look of utter hatred at Michael when she dies).

Of course the film then jumps ahead a few decades, but it's implied that Michael spends his finale years alone (Although his sister-Connie, who has now become almost as bad as he is and Vincent might still run the Corleone family).

Revenge of the Sith would have been so much better if at least one of the Jedi were offed whilst getting a massage and/or in bed with a paid companion.

General Order 66 was unusual as it was timed to take effect across the entire galaxy with every Jedi away and doing something important, no matter what time zone the planet was on...

In the film, it's established that some other Jedi might have survived or not been with troops. That's what the false beacon (which Obi-Wan reversed) was for.

The Jedi killed off in the montage were mostly Jedi Council members if I remember correctly.

How was it timed that way? Mace and co confront Palpatine, who kicks all their asses until his face melts, then Anakin and throw Mace out a window and Anakin kneels and says he's cool with being evil, then Palpatine apparently phones up every single Clone individually instead of using a "send to all" option...

The only timing seems to be, "I've been confronted and killed Jedi, time to do this thing."

There's been some rumors for the trailer possibly coming next week.

Reportedly we see Han, Leia, the droids, but again this seems to focus a bit more on the new characters (Finn,Rey, Kylo, Poe and BB-8), although there's some shots of TIE fighters, the Falcon, Star Destroyers and an Imperial shuttle. Also it appears we might revisit Yavin in the film, as has been rumored. Apparentally no Luke though, so it's possible they're keeping that a bit more secret.

I read a rumor that we'll see him in the second trailer but not until the very last shot. We'll know soon enough.

Is anyone else really geeking out about this? For Force's sake we get to see our childhood heroes again! On the big screen!

Geeeking out?

My Star Wars action figures are telling me to take it down a notch!

Freaking out, yes. I can't wait to see the trailer in front of Avengers: AoU and then walk out. That's what everybody is doing, right?

If I am paying $15 dollars plus another $15 for snacks and drinks, you better believe I am staying for every last frame, and then I am going to take a nap in the empty theater.

I'm staying behind and holding a Q&A session. With the current prices of movie tickets I'm tempted to get my friends to help me take over the theater Die Hard-style and staying until the management has to get Bruce Willis to intervene.

Tickets aren't the problem. Concessions are. Holy jumpin Jehoshaphat, when I spend $24 on tickets and $50(!) on drinks, snacks, popcorn for two people, that's insane.

A normal person like me is faced with either simply not eating or snacking during a movie (tolerable but kind of ruins the fun) or curtailing how many movies my wife and I go and see.

My wife goes to the dollar store and buys Junior Mints. Same size as they sell at the theater, only $1.
I imagine that theaters understand that a lot of people sneak in food, but they hope the smell of hot popcorn and the fact you spent the cost of decent Blu-Ray just to watch a film ONE TIME will overcome your thriftiness.
