Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

The six previous films assembled together in one nice-looking little collage:

I love that poster for Attack of the Clones. Shame about the actual movie.

I really hope Lucasfilm convinces Drew Struzan to come out of retirement and paint the poster for The Force Awakens.

I have never seen those posters for A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi before. ANH is similar to Struzan's Special Edition art but Leia is different and Chewie and the Droids are added. Empire has added characters. Jedi is a composite of a whole bunch of different posters.

On the wall behind me right now I framed posters for all 6 films. Struzan's original prequel posters and his posters for the special editions. I huge them to be perfectly spaced over the whole wall. In a few years I going to have to find more space! lol

Same here, the OT posters look very similar to Struzan's but I've never seen them before.

The ANH poster is more accurate than the SE one which had ESB Leia on it.

I think my favorite ANH one is the one with Luke, Han, Leia all with blasters. The actor's likenesses are spot on but for some reason Vader's saber is drawn wrong and there's a really weird looking Y-wing.

Yeah, the poster for Attack of the Clones is definitely more beautiful than the actual film is a consistent and fully-realized piece of entertainment. The Prequel posters are some of the best-looking in the entire Star Wars theatrical lineup and I'll always have a lot of affection for some of them.

I wish I knew who made those Original Trilogy posters but I found this collage on the Web during a search for some cool posters from the films. I've never seen that particular Jedi poster on any other website.

I had to do a quick search to remind myself of which poster, but my suspicion seems to be correct. The Y-Wing is based upon early concept art (here, here and here) and was possibly one of several posters the studio commissioned for the release. I believe I recall Mark Hamil joking about the fact that after Star Wars made money, they were more comfortable showing his real life physique ;)

Excuse me if someone has already suggested this name, but was it Drew Struzan?

I don't know if he made the OT posters or not. The Jedi one doesn't look nor feel like one of his, but I could be mistaken.

One thing is certain, however, they are truly beautiful and very cool? How I wish I could draw like that!

I looked it up after your last post, and while Struzan does have a triptych he made for the OT Special Editions that was very similar in style to the ones you posted (and were what inspired Lucas to have him create the Prequel posters for a matching set), those are actually different. They have different pictures and title fonts and so forth. I'm not sure who the artist is (TinEye didn't help), but they were clearly going for the Struzan style.

Thanks for checking on them, man.

That triptych art is what was used for the boxes of the VHS home video releases of the OT Special Editions.

I think although I'm not sure the ROTJ artwork was for the British release of the THX 1994 VHS boxes. I think I read that in an issue of Star Wars galaxy, a brief 90's magazine from Topps.

When you look at it, the Jedi poster does have the look you'd see on a Topps Star Wars trading card from about twenty years ago.
