Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I had to kick it to "full screen" to realize they were showing a little "in-joke" there at the end.

A model of the Batman "Tumbler" snuck in there as greebling ... Someone has a sense of humor!

Q2 (* off to watch it 6 more times *)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Aside from JJ's "note," that's the first official picture of it, as Bad Robot is his company. Also the Batman music is probably their way to continue the social media "duel" Star Wars has had with Batman v. Superman

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

After almost 32 years it's so wonderful to see the Falcon again. We missed you, old friend. You're still as rough around the edges but gorgeous as ever.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

These past few days have been very difficult for me. My best friend might not make it through the week. He's in the hospital on a respirator.

Thank you, JJ, for giving me 36 precious seconds of joy!

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Be pretty cool if we got a closeup in the movie of Han or Chewie working on the underside of the Falcon, and it was still there. :D

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

They were shot in the back by their own soldiers, who were just following orders, so there was no hint of deceit from them in the Force.

True, but somehow it still feels a little too easy to have most of the Jedi simply gunned down like that. I realize they're not all-powerful or all-knowing, but I still would have liked to see them put up more of a fight than they did.

When Obi-Wan talks of Vader hunting down and destroying the Jedi, I didn't think he was referring to the just the few stragglers who hadn't already been picked off by Palpatine's troops.

I'm sure some did put up a fight, we just didn't get to see them - we only saw 4 Jedi killed by Order 66.

Vader also stormed the Jedi Temple and slaughtered the Jedi there, so it wasn't just the stragglers.

It's worth keeping in mind that the ones we saw killed were in the midst of battle when their own troops turned on them. That is to say right when their focus was directed elsewhere. As good as the Jedi are they're not omniscient. Indeed, that's the whole point; it was a mass betrayal and ambush.

This not like this was something made up during the making of the prequels. As early as ANH it was stated that the Jedi were betrayed.

Even so, Yoda managed to sense it coming at the last second, even caught off guard Ki-Adi-Mundi still managed to deflect a few blaster bolts before going down.

It was the droid army behind Ki-Adi-Mundi that killed him, when he had to turn to defend himself against his own Clone Troopers, right?

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Well, there were Separatist droids firing on them but Ki-Adi was cut down and killed by blaster fire from his own Galactic Marines (forerunners of Imperial Snowtroopers).

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

...hmm. Not so sure that I like that. I mean sure, last time we saw that ship, it had the dish ripped clean off so whatever they went with it wouldn't be the original, but still...it's kind of iconic.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Think of it as the Star Wars equivalent of the TOS Enterprise deflector dish. Not all-important in the wider scheme of things, but if you're going to depict the ship it's pretty much a requirement to include it. ;)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I believe that if it had been rectangular to begin with, no one would bat an eye. People would be saying that circular looks wrong.
