Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Sorry to keep bringing up the EU (Yeah, I know it's no longer canon), but there are a few 'ancient evil' Siths that have been used in the franchise before (even if no longer canon, they were still officially licensed).

Apart from the book Crosscurrent (Which had Sith lords from the past 'time travel' to the Star Wars post-ROTJ stuff)The most recent was in the comics Vector crossover in Dark Horse comics, but the Jedi Academy video game (Which I believe also has the hero of Crosscurrent) brought back the ghost of an ancient Sith Lord, and the "Tales of the Jedi"/Knights of the Old Republic stuff also dealt with some dead sith Lords (Freedon Nadd) an ancient Death-star like ship.

Plus of course Dark Empire temporarily brought Palpatine back.

I'm sure I'm missing a few :)

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

"Lost Tribe of the Sith" was a way to explain their reappearance in the "Fate of the Jedi" line, right?

I'd given up on the line by then.

It was a history for the Sith that appeared in FOTJ, but separated by thousands of years.

Of course, last we saw of Mother Talzin she was still scheming...

Well, not exactly...

She just doesn't understand that random people on the internet are the deciders.

Seems she works for the intellectual property owners. It'll be interesting to see if her statement stands.

She is the editor of the Star Wars book line - she definitely knows what's canon and what's not.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Ah, nothing like a good old-fashioned canonfight.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Clone Wars is canon. Ergo, a comic book of a Clone Wars script is canon.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Yeah, for now and the time being the Cartoon Network/Netflix Clone Wars is fully canon (unlike the Tartakovsy microseries from a decade ago which, as far as I'm aware, has been decanonized or largely so). That status can always change if the new Disney overlords wish it, but if it happened during the recent series (no matter how nonsensical or difficult to make jibe with events elsewhere in the series or in the live-action films) it's canon.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

They announced that all the movies, the Clone Wars tv series, and any books/comics going forward from this point are part of the new canon.

Everything else, the endless novels and comics, are "Legends" continuity. They're no longer the official continuity BUT they will continue to be mined for ideas and characters.

Most are assuming that comics and novels from the Prequel Era and the Pre-Prequel Era are basically still canon since all new materials will take place just before the OT or after it, and thus will never bother to contradict anything.

I know I'm assuming that for my "personal canon".
