Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Could be an EU reference, yeah. I didn't read a lot of the Rebel Pilot and Squadron books set after ROTJ so that name could indeed refer to an Alliance pilot who was prominent in one or more of those stories.

I've never heard of the "infamous X-Wing pilot Gorwyn".

I just think they mean he's either infamous among the other Resistance pilots (or to the First Order pilots he shoots down) in-universe, or that he's infamous in that he's been mentioned in various prior rumors and leaks without a clear idea of who he was. I don't think they mean he's anyone that existed in Star Wars lore before this movie that fandom should already know about.

Or maybe he's more than famous. ;)

It's done really well with Artoo and Threepio too. ;)

True! Or, at least, most of the time.

There was a time or two when 3PO repeated exactly what R2 said back as a question, like when discussing the Falcon's hyperdrive in TESB. "The city's central computer told you?"

Same with Han and Chewie. Most of the time, it's Chewie speaks without translation effectively, but sometimes Han repeats back what he said, like about finding the broken apart 3PO in a junk pile.

In both of those examples (from TESB), I've always found that dialog explaining what they said unnecessary.

In the case of the second example though, Han was translating for Leia, which was a bit less jarring that Threepio translating for the audience.

We sometimes repeat what someone says to us when we are in disbelief as to what they said, or to parrot it back to them before yelling at them. 3PO does this a bit to R2. "The city's centeral computer told you?" is followed by 3PO reminding R2 not to listen to a strange computers like he's reminding him of a repeated leason R2 ignores all the time.

Han Solo sitting at the controls of the Millennium Falcon. I'm glad I've lived long enough to once again see this image. :)

It's almost as if we were in 1983 all over again (I just wish I still had my hair and some other things I had at that age).
More like 1980. We didn't see Han at the controls of the Falcon in 1983. :)

Oh, I knew that but I was referring to the last time we had a movie with both Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon in it. The end of the Original Trilogy Era. :)

OMG. We never saw Han in the cockpit in ROTJ?! Wait, what about after the Jabba rescue when they're talking to Luke on the radio?!

I think this is the only scene in ROTJ with Han in a cockpit?

Nope. Only saw Luke in the X-Wing. Hell, for all we know, he wasn't even in the cockpit, but talking over a headset from a crewcabin or whatnot, since he was probably still recovering.

Wait! <HIjol in disbelief!> you mean we sometimes repeat what someone says to us when we are in disbelief as to what they said, or to parrot it back to them before yelling at them?!?!

sorry, but someone was bound to do it.

Whatever year it was, I am also very glad to see Han at the controls! :techman:

I imagine Lando and Chewie were at the controls. Han's eyesight hadn't yet returned to the point where he could adequately and safely fly his ship, so he was probably leaning over somebody else's shoulder and talking into a microphone or commlink.

I honestly never realized until you guys pointed it out here that we never saw Han in the Falcon's cockpit in ROTJ.

I love ROTJ, but it does still feel a bit wrong that it wasn't Han taking part in that epic space battle at the end, and flying the Falcon into the middle of the Death Star. The action taking place down on Endor, while entertaining, just wasn't nearly as cool or memorable.

The good thing is we're likely to see an awful LOT of Han flying the Falcon and doing all kinds of cool and crazy things with it in the new movie (at least judging from the trailers and the few spoilers I've read).

I don't see how they could have blocked out that story otherwise unfortunately. Obviously you need to have Han paired with Leia to complete their romance. So putting Han in the Falcon would make Leia his co-pilot. And then you don't have a major character involved for the Endor battle. I don't know how emotionally involved people would have been with just Lando leading an army of teddy bears...

What about R2D2 and C-3PO leading an army of teddy bears?! I mean, they already though 3PO was their god or something. Put that droid to work!

I think one of the earlier scripts, written mainly by Lucas, the Falcon actually doesn't do too much in the end battle, but is used by Han and co. to land on Endor (Or whatever it was called at that point). The Imperial shuttle scene is actually at the beginning of the film but with Wedge instead of Han.

Lando is still present but he's on the bridge of a rebel cruiser with Ackbar.
