Star Wars: Episode VII: The Nerd Rage Awakens

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

(Perkins) Psycho (1960) and Psycho II (1983): 23 years

(Yeah, it's on wiki list that Harvey linked to, but I thought of it on my own. ;))

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Footage of Terrance Stamp from Poor Cow (1967) was used as flashbacks in The Limey (1999.) 32 Years.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Momoko Kochi should take it, she played Emiko Yamane in Godzilla(1954) and again in Godzilla VS Destroyer(1995) that's a 41 year gap.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

David Hedison played CIA agent Felix Leiter in two James Bond films 16 years apart: Live and Let Die and Licence to Kill. In fact he was the only actor before the Craig films came along to play Felix Leiter more than once.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

I feel my brain is defective, I hear the original cast is reprising their roles and my first thought is Carrie Fisher and metal bikini. Take that, Uhura fan dance! I was on a site earlier that had old pictures of Carrie from Rolling Stone, I can only blame that for my errant synapse firings.

Just breaking:

Dame Judi Dench as Mon Mothma in the new film?

I could get behind that idea if it develops into more than a rumor.

Many Bothans died to bring us this information.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

The Dark Side sees what you did there.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

If we're counting footage within things, Columbo: "Forgotten Lady" (1975) uses footage from a movie made 22-years before, "Walking My Baby Back Home" (1953) also starring Janet Leigh, for the film-within-the-episode that stars the murderer, Grace Wheeler Willis.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Honorable Mention (in the ball park but not quite...): Buster Crabbe played Brigadier Gordon in Buck Rogers 39 years after Flash Gordon.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Carl Reiner's character from The Dick Van Dyke Show reappeared more than 30 years later on Mad About You.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Skipped the last few pages, so not sure if it's been mentioned:

Bill Mumy - Anthony Fremont -
It's a Good Life
(1961)
It's Still a Good Life (2003)
42 Years

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Also, didn't Ed Asner recently reprise a role he originated on the original Hawaii 5-0 on the new one? (EDIT: Yeah, 1975 and 2012).
That was actually one of the last ones I watched. They even used footage from the original episode as flashbacks. It's kind of weird though, the new cast is playing the same characters as the original cast, so all of the events of the original episode can't have happened in the new episode, but the flashbacks mean that at least some of it did.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Now: if you wanna talk the two characters that have been in more episodes of different TV series than any others in Hollywood history we're probably talking Det. John Munch (Richard Belzer) and Sophia Petrillo (Estelle Getty), who each appeared on no fewer than four or five different shows as the same character, and in fact Munch was on one or two episodes of The X-Files at the same time he was on Homicide and just before he joined Law & Order: SVU.

I know this is a different category, but it's a fun one when you delve into it.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Yep, Munch does a big job of enabling Tommy Westphall.

Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII

Marla Gibbs as Florence Johnston
Checking In
The Jeffersons
Fresh Prince of Belair
House of Payne

Sally Struthers as Gloria Bunker-Stivic
Sonny and Cher
All In The Family
Archie Bunker's Place
Gloria
(I could swear there was another Gloria Spin-off or that she was in one of the other All In The Family Spinoffs, but, IMDB only lists those)
