Han probably only replaced the satellite dish.
These astromechs were built to last, weren't they? We don't know how old R2 was when he was assigned to Queen Amidala's Royal Starship in Episode I but that makes him at the very least 32 years old at the time of the original film and about, oh, 65-70 when Episode VII rolls around. Threepio might be far older since kid Anakin retrieved his already-worn and used parts from a Mos Espa junkpile and reconstructed him, and I read somewhere that Threepio's basic Cybot Galactica droid components might have been at least half a century old by the time Anakin found them.
Why the hell would they build a spaceship on the planet's surface?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture on one of the sites I go to that showed it inside somewhere. I'm pretty sure the one of it outside is fake.I seriously doubt they'd build it inside a basement of a construction site, out in the open.
