Yes, that would be very awesome, but I doubt that will happen.
"Forget what you think you know about what happens to Luke Skywalker" tells me that it is an original story(i.e. not E. U.) about Luke, Hammill can still be Luke, but not a story that's already been told. This does not suggest a reboot, but a continuation. Besides, if it were a reboot, why would the name it Episode 7, why not just go with Star Wars:... or whatever? If it is a 40 year old Skywalker, then obviously he would be recast, but I have a feeling it's going to be Hammill and the announcement will be huge. I suppose that won't come for a long time.
Plus he kinda looks like Yoda now, so there's symmetry.I agree, I can easily see Hammil in this movie in a sort of passing the torch role like Nimoy in Trek XI.
May I suggest that Brad Bird should be the director?

Yes you may and that's who I was thinking too. MI4 was absolutely awesome, I was very skeptical of MI4 at first, but it was a nice mix of action and story and character development. The action sequences were something I can see in a Star Wars movie and the character development is something Star Wars desperately needs. I was not bored once during MI4 and I felt very satisfied as to how the story played out and the humor was very subtle and not campy. I think Brad Bird would be an excellent choice.
If it happens, it won't be for at least several years. Earlier in the thread someone quoted a news article as stating that 20th Century Fox holds the distribution rights to Star Wars "in perpetuity," and the distribution rights for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi until 2020.Wouldn't it be marvellous if they re-released the first trilogy in the original, theatrical format without any of the stupid stuff Lucas added later?
Kevin Sorbo is barely believable as Kevin Sorbo.Could Kevin Sorbo play Luke if Hamil declines?

Yup. I mean for starters it has technically actually happened (my DVD copy of the Star Wars trilogy is the one that includes the original cuts of all three movies as special features)* and that's when Lucas had the final say on the subject.Yes, that would be very awesome, but I doubt that will happen.
Actually, I think it's highly likely it WILL happen.

I can see Luke being the Gandalf of the next new trilogy. Just put him in a brown Jedi robe and have him grow a beard.![]()
